"We stayed here for a couple of days in October. The rooms are in what I presume are converted stables, to the side of the pub, with a nice view overlooking a paddock at the back. All are named after famous race horses. Our room was comfortable with a double bed, tea/coffee making facilities, a clean, white bathroom and adjustable heating via the radiators...Great as it was cold during our stay. The only annoying thing was trying to get the TV to work with the Sky box attached...instructions are in the room but it seemed a little hit and miss to get it to work. We had breakfast included which was OK. Very basic buffet of potted yoghurt, juice, croissants which were not replaced when all used up) etc, together with the usual cooked options. Service was friendly but very slow, even when there were just a few guests. We had an evening meal on one of the nights. The food was very tasty, with a nice vegetarian curry available for myself but service was painfully slow. It was super busy in the pub that evening because of some sports match on TV and it was also very loud in there. Clearly there were lots of locals who had come in to enjoy the match and the atmosphere. We planned to go walking on the Ridgeway during our stay and asked the bar staff for suggestions of other places to visit and where to park etc... Although friendly and wanting to help, the staff said they were not local and were not able to give us any pointers on places to visit etc...maybe a suggestion to have some local leaflets available or have some printed walking routes for guests? I love traditional old pubs but I found the dining room to be a little tired and grubby. It was a nice break away for a couple of days but nothing particularly special. I would recommend this place for a dinner but I personally wouldn 't return for a short break unless attending an event in that area as I 'd rather try somewhere different next time."

Supper with a friend from South Africa. She’d been dreaming of the Queens Arms’ scotch egg and it did not disappoint! I had the duck with dauphinoise potatoes… delicious. So lucky to have this as our local!

We had a wonderful time at this charming pub. The food was fantastic, the prices were reasonable, and the service provided by the friendly staff, especially Kasey, was outstanding. We will definitely be coming back.

Fantastic night at the Queens Arms stopping off on our way to Southampton. Amazing food and great selection of wine and a lovely atmosphere. Our room The Wishing Well, was clean and warm and very computable with a beautiful bathroom. Couldn’t have chosen a better place to start our holiday. Voir le carte

We joined the horse-racing crowd on a chilly January evening for our second visit to the Queen's Arms for a cozy Gastro-Pub dinner. The food was once again delicious and arrived promptly. The service from the young, enthusiastic, and well-dressed staff was professional and accommodating. We look forward to returning soon.

We had a reunion of old work colleagues, with 20 of us meeting in thier garden room. We pre-ordered our meny choices and all the food arrived on time and more or less together. Everyone commented on the good quality of the food and and very adequate portions (too much if anything). Everybody would be very happy to meet again at the Queens Arms next yer.

Have had some very good meals at the Queens but unfortunately this was the worst. Sunday lunch. Lukewarm soup in a cold bowl. It was a tasteless gloop. Roast Beef excelent but sitting on a heap of I think kale. One carrot one piece of Parsnip. Two excuses for roast potatoes. An egg flip Creme Brulee which was a brown something. Am afraid someone needs to get a grip. No managment apparent. Voir le carte

We chose The Queens Arms as a central venue for family travelling from different parts of the country, so weren't familiar with the location or the pub, but we couldn't have been happier with our choice. The staff were all friendly and welcoming, without being over the top, and nothing was too much trouble. The decor is cosy and elegant, and we had the Garden room to ourselves as a party of 13. The food was superb, a good variety and a really nice balance of great flavours without being too fancy perfect to cater for a family group with a broad range of tastes! Would love to visit again in the summer as the countryside is stunning, and maybe for an overnight stay.

I can't even begin to tell you how beautiful this pub is in character and charm, but also how gorgeous the food was. Staying local from Wales, this really was the cherry on top for our stay. The rissoto my father had looked and smelled beautiful. My husband (who is himself a chef) had the hake and he said it was so delicious and even took a picture of the menu. Chicken wings perfect, the butter chicken curry beautiful, the duck also highly recommended. And you MUST have the truffle fries. Price is extremely reasonable... 6 meals and drinks coming to just over £150. Service was excellent. You should all be proud of yourselves, you all do a fab job. Can't wait to come back!

"Went here to celebrate a couple of friends birthdays and had a very mixed evening. It was a Monday night so it was quiet and we were one of only a handful of tables. We were a party of four and there were no tables any larger than ours in that evening. We were seated quickly and that was about the one and only thing that happened all night with any kind of urgency. Our orders were taken and we were waiting 20 minutes or more for our first round of drinks. About half way through this, we were informed that three of the four meals we had ordered were sold out (something you'd think we'd have been informed of at the time of ordering . We thought we could quench our thirst with some water whilst waiting for our drinks but sadly no one ever came over to refill our glasses. When the food finally arrived it was delicious and I couldn't fault it at all (even if it wasn't my first choice on the menu! , so that made up for lack of service. We ordered a dessert each although only 3 of them arrived. My friend had to ask for her coffee which also didn't have any signs of showing and then when her dessert didn't show she just gave up on it (it was never put through the system . I ordered a glass of red wine, specifying the wine and was given a glass of what I assume was house red at least I wasn't mis charged for it as it was cheaper than the one I ordered! Even paying the bill was an ordeal, taking us a while to get it and then having to go through line by line to see if any of the food we ordered and didn't get hadn't been taken off (there was one additional meal on the bill . All in all a bit of a shambles but at least the delicious food and the wonderful company meant it didn't dampen our evening too much. Don't think I'd come back on a quiet night again, seems the service staff take it as a sign to disappear."
