"After seeing a post yesterday about tyi restaurant not wanting to use plastics for takeaway it seemed like a great place to visit as I agree we should be cutting down on the use of these and think people should make time for a sit down meal. After reading some reviews thought I would try it for myself. Both of us ordered the vegetable dumplings and rice noodles we were asked if we had any allergies so they could check it was suitable. Both of the owners were very friendly and chatty and the food was very high quality and tasty. It would have been rude not to try a cake for afters (even though pretty full from meal) I had brownie and other half had tiffing, again very mourish and good value for money. Will be revisiting, only regret is that I didn’t know about this place sooner!!!"

"Just had the most delicious lunch at the Flowerpot cafe. There are lots of outside tables with parasols, but do ask if there isn’t one free, as they have spare ones inside that they can bring out. I had a baked potato with tuna and...cheese, which came with lots of lovely salad. Service was quick and extremely friendly. I took a piece of chocolate cake home with me, which was fabulous and homemade (of course There is nowhere else in Newbury as good as this."

"We dropped in for a meal last Sunday night to break our journey. We had a lovely meals my husband had the steak special with mushroom sauce the chips were crunchy just as we like them and the steak was nicely cooked and great value . I had the fish pie and found it to be tasty dish. We had delightful service from Evie and Jade who were both friendly and professional. I left my jacket there and the staff went beyond to have it returned to me really fantastic service . Thank you Bills Newbury for a lovely meal and amazing customer service."

"What a Gem of a find !!! Best Sunday lunch we have had in a long time Amazing friendly staff with a genuine warm welcome , we unfortunately arrived late for our table which didn’t pose a problem on what was clearly a busy day . The smoked trout starter was to die for !! Roast loin of pork and crackling delicious and rare roast beef unbelievable all with piping hot gravy what more could you ask for ? Well a sublime red wine in the form of a Rioja recommended by our host Nick) didn’t disappoint in fact exceeded all expectations . We had our cockerpoo with us who was welcomed with biscuits water and her own bed !!! A beautiful establishment with dedicated Hosts Nick and Jo if your in the area I would definitely recommend"

"We came here on a Sunday afternoon for a Birthday dinner and was very disappointed. We have come here multiple times over the years and the service and food were always great. This time however was completely different. As soon as we arrived for our reservation we were met (eventually) by someone who I assume was the Manager, he went off to prepare our table and then did something else. We were left waiting in the entrance for nearly 10 minutes before someone else took us over. We were sat at the back of the place by ourselves and felt totally ignored the whole time. Probably because we had a baby and pushchair with us, whereas the table next to us that kept ordering wine got all the attention. The Manager was also joking with them about driving home which was not appropriate given how much they had all drank. We all ordered the rib eye steak as medium and all of us ended up with different cuts and variations of cooking. The rib eye was awful and none of us finished as it was fatty and full of gristle. We also asked 3 different people for water for the table and only when I stood up and found someone did we get any. When we were all done we were waiting for the bill which never came so we all got up and walked to the front counter. It should be pointed out that we could easily have walked out as most of the staff were sat around eating their dinner (one girl with her feet literally on the table). Unless this place gets much better service and food quality I would strongly suggest avoiding."
