"The staff done the best they could I guess and they were polite and curteous but we arrived at 6 pm for a family birthday dinner. QWe had all pre-ordered our food. Our food was not served until after 7pm and only because we had to ask to be served. My partner and I did not have starters but others in our party did. When our food arrived my sirloin steak was okay but very badly presented. My partner had ordered the rib of beef but this was absolutely shockingly bad. It was burnt, the vegetables were sloppy leaks and cabbage and there was no potato other than what appeared to be four pieces, smaller than and as this as a two pence piece. It was not even tasty. The starter plates were not taken away before serving the main meals either and were left piled on the table. The mains all came at different times and some of us had almost finished our food by the time others were served. The manager did apologise for this and gave a round of dinks as an apology. However, I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone else as it really was not a pleasant dining experience. the food we had was certainly not worth the money paid. My partner and I have eaten at other Ember Inn establishments and have always enjoyed what we have ordered at those. My wife, daughter and I went to the OWH for a last minute lunch on Christmas Eve. What a wonderful treat this was. There was a lovely festive atmosphere, staff were very attentive to our needs despite it being busy. Food and drink were delicious especially the hunters chicken. This will become a Christmas Eve tradition every year now along with regular visits throughout the year. Thanks Timothy and the team!
