"Great! We'd had disappointing mains (and welcome at a local pub we've always loved so we made our way home, somewhat deflated and noticed The Mill, somewhere we've always meant to try. Decided to pop in and see if they had any gluten free desserts; (we were also looking for somewhere to book for later in July for a birthday, when all the adult kids come to visit! We received a very warm welcome (from Dan, I believe despite only wanting desserts and drinks. He couldn't have been more helpful and checked out the GF options for me there were several we had sticky toffee and chocolate brownie puddings respectively (one with vegan ice cream so lactose free . Both were delicious! The outside space is lovely, beautiful setting by the river, with lots of seating and well kept. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and have booked for birthday visit for us all, later in the month. Very surprised by some of the negative reviews that was definitely not our experience. The food and service were faultless. Many thanks to all, especially Dan."

Good location nice food but definitely not value for money a burger and just a few chips over £17 daylite robbery you would expect more on your plate. Couldn’t see the point of the brunch menu served after 11am very eggy!

We stayed for three nights in room 8 which is a suite. It was very comfortable with a separate sitting room, lovely comfortable bed and luxurious bathroom. We ate in the pub on 2 nights and the food was excellent. Service also excellent, all staff were attentive and super helpful. Beautiful setting by the river which was lovely despite the constant rain!

Friendly and attentive staff. Food and service fantastic. We had the private room for 15 of us to celebrate mums 80th birthday. I had a cake delivered the day before which arrived in dry ice packaging and needed defrosting.. nothing was too much trouble. Beautiful setting. Disabled car park available and access on one level to private room. Highly recommend.

Beautiful old pub with garden, right by the river: lovely spot, and very characterful inside. Sunday roast pork was very good, too. My only small criticisms are that it was really draughty inside (maybe we were unlucky with our table: it was a stormy February day) and the only non-meat Sunday lunch option turned out to contain dairy, so no ‘roast’ option for my dairy-free daughter.

This was my second visit, and I only returned as I was invited by friends. I was not impressed with the menu so thought I would play safe and have Fish and Chips! Unfortunately they were nothing to get excited by either. Also as others have said the surroundings are lovely, but the inside could do with some attention, the table we sat at was tatty, and the window sill next to the table needed repainting.

We stayed for 2 nights bed and breakfast. We ate here the first night and the three courses we had were delicious and well executed and very quick service. The house coctails were well made and delicious. We received a very warm welcome from the whole team and they were super dog friendly. We found the pub to have a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The room was spacious and warm, and had great facilities. We could not fault our stay here. Highly recommended! Thank you.

Went for Father's day with friends has we were on holiday in the area. Waited 1hr.for our meal. When it arrived it was not what we expected. 1 carrot 1 parsnip under cooked savoury cabbage 2 roast pots soggy. red cabbage. In a pile with the meat laid on top then smothered in gravy not very appealing and a giant Yorkshire pudding and only warm. For the price £120+ for a main course and only 2 drinks well and truly over priced. We told our server that the meal wasn't up to expectations. But like normal nothing was done. Menus did not display the prices very clearly Would definitely not return or recommend this place

"My Wife and I don't travel so well these days but decided to go a little further afield from our usual Highcliffe and Christchurch haunts we live in Mudeford. We went twice in point of fact. The first visit was the 21st June when My wife and I had a quiet Birthday celebration lunch prior to the Family celebration later in the day. It was excellent. We only had the Mains and despite it being busy and not having booked we were served promptly and cheerfully with a round of drinks. My Wife had Chicken Pie and I had Liver and Bacon. Both were excellent and my Wifes vegetables were freshly done. I don't have vegetables. We liked it so much we went back three days later to celebrate our youngest Daughters birthday and again had lunch before the Family celebration later in the day. The meal was as fabulous as three days prior. My Wife had a Chicken Roast, our Daughter had Beef Roast and I had an amazingly well filled Steak and Merlot Pie of the Week. As before the vegetables were freshly done. Unusually for us we also had puddings (Lemon Meringue, Bailey's Cheescake and Apple Tart with Custard. All were excellent. All washed down with Tea and a Latte the former being served in nicely twee Teapots. Total cost £80 for the three of us on the second visit. Worth every penny. All in all First Class and couldn't fault it. Disabled parking nicely located in the front with ample parking for those more mobile at the side and back. Just a note for History buffs. The main building was built in 1853 by John Harrison(? a Carpenter thus the name Carpenters Arms."
