"We stopped in on our way home from Dunwich, hoping for a quick meal. Our first question these days is always, "Do you have gluten-free options?" before we even ask about a table. The friendly staff reassured us that there were gluten-free options available, so we ordered drinks and took a seat. However, when we looked at the menu, the only gluten-free option listed was Mushroom Stroganoff. After further inquiry, the chef mentioned that there were gluten-free pieminister pies and ham, egg, and chips available, but the chips were not cooked in a separate fryer (not safe for coeliacs). We were considering leaving at this point, but the staff kindly offered us ham, eggs, and new potatoes, which was a helpful alternative. The meal ended up being quite enjoyable, and the staff were very accommodating. The atmosphere was pleasant. It would be great if they could invest in a separate fryer for coeliacs to enjoy chips as well. We noticed another couple who came in, looked at the menu, mentioned their dietary needs, and left. Perhaps offering more gluten-free options upon request could be beneficial. Just a suggestion."

Nice pub with large restaurant. We dined in the separate bar. Limited menu but very well prepared and very tasty.

Great night, and a good meeting place for our bike club. Our hosts were really friendly and the pies the best I’ve ever had. We will return

Visited with my husband and grandparents. Was lovely. Good service and food. The pizzas aren’t the best but everything else was great. Would definitely recommend and will be back

Visited The Griffin for dinner. We were staying nearby for a wedding. We hadn't booked but they had a table free. Have to say that this place is awesome. Food was delicious and really well priced, drinks very reasonable and the staff were super friendly. If we are in the area again we will definitely visit again! The pies are to die for! We booked The Griffin for a short break, and to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We had a great stay with good food and comfortable room. The girls spoilt us on our anniversary. We had a terrific night in the bar only 5 of us but was it good! Visit this hotel soon. The staff and locals made us very welcome, and I’m sure the’ll make you welcome too. Thanks girls and hope to see you soon.

On our way back from Southwold, we stopped at this restaurant and decided to try the steak and ale pie. However, we were surprised to receive a carrot pie with a side of carrots instead. While there was some roast beef mixed in, the carrots were the main focus of the dish. The steak and ale were noticeably missing, which was disappointing. It's no wonder that many pubs are closing if they can't even get simple dishes right anymore.

Excellent lunch for 14 at the Griffin yesterday. Menu is good mix of pub fare made to order. Special pie menu and pizzas were popular choices. Manager and staff were very welcoming and friendly and went above and beyond for this special occasion. Good natured locals in the main bar were enjoying the England/Sweden match which added to the atmosphere. Nice secure level rear garden with children’s area away from any road noise. Can’t recommend The Griffin too highly. So welcoming. Apparently they are also a successful b with an awesome breakfast served! Voir le carte

We stopped by this restaurant on a Sunday for lunch with our dog. We received a warm welcome as soon as we walked in. We were told we could enjoy the carvery lunch in the bar, which was great so we didn't have to leave our dog in the car. The food was delicious and well-prepared, and the pudding was reasonably priced. They even had sausages for the dog, which was a nice touch. It was refreshing to find a cozy pub with friendly staff, especially after dealing with pretentious people in the area. It was a chilly day, so it would have been nice if the fire was lit, but it didn't stop us from enjoying our visit. We will definitely come back to try the Pieminister pies. Many thanks to Jacob, the...

Getting a room for a Saturday night in the height of summer and during the World Cup proved challenging. Our previous stay at The White Horse Sibton could not help and suggested The Griffin at Yoxford. It 's not on the same standard, although the bed was superb. The welcome from the moment I called was first rate and charming as it was when we arrived during England 's match with Sweden. The building dates in part from 14th century and much much in 16th.The are copious mind your head warnings. The owners, who are local and have only had the pub for about a year and they realise there are things to do . But they 're doing much and the warmth of the atmosphere is superb. Breakfast was not bad...

"This wasn’t our first visit (the previous occasion was more positive than this) but this was really quite poor. Problem after problem, service was poor and just not very welcoming. Firstly, drinks weren’t available issues with draft, but then bottles weren’t available either. So there was a very limited selection of drinks on offer and the staff weren’t proactive in advising what was available. So it was request and receive a no! Secondly, the food was poor. The starters were shocking. Really quite bad. There was a bit of redemption from some of the mains, but we elected to not proceed with anything else as it wasn’t great. We had to wait ages for drinks and foods to arrive despite the fact that the restaurant was practically empty and many staff present. Frequently there were 3 staff at the back of the room standing about chatting, but they weren’t attentive to our needs. They didn’t check around the room to see if guests required additional drinks or require plates clearing. They didn’t check to see how the food was and when we complained regarding a starter they simply didn’t know how to handle it. When the draft beer came back on there was no proactive behaviour in returning to the table and letting us know so that more drinks could be ordered. Drinks were poured in wrong glasses, plates were cleared whilst people were still eating and then not cleared when they needed to be! Simply put the staff working had no idea on what table service should be perhaps they had received no training which is a major failing when the restaurant is part of a hotel. It was not welcoming. The restaurant was freezing cold. The service was really very poor and the food disappointing. They also don’t take dogs which in Aldeburgh is a bit weird. There is plenty of space and the tables are large so they would not be in the way. We won’t be returning."
