"This wasn’t our first visit (the previous occasion was more positive than this) but this was really quite poor. Problem after problem, service was poor and just not very welcoming. Firstly, drinks weren’t available issues with draft, but then bottles weren’t available either. So there was a very limited selection of drinks on offer and the staff weren’t proactive in advising what was available. So it was request and receive a no! Secondly, the food was poor. The starters were shocking. Really quite bad. There was a bit of redemption from some of the mains, but we elected to not proceed with anything else as it wasn’t great. We had to wait ages for drinks and foods to arrive despite the fact that the restaurant was practically empty and many staff present. Frequently there were 3 staff at the back of the room standing about chatting, but they weren’t attentive to our needs. They didn’t check around the room to see if guests required additional drinks or require plates clearing. They didn’t check to see how the food was and when we complained regarding a starter they simply didn’t know how to handle it. When the draft beer came back on there was no proactive behaviour in returning to the table and letting us know so that more drinks could be ordered. Drinks were poured in wrong glasses, plates were cleared whilst people were still eating and then not cleared when they needed to be! Simply put the staff working had no idea on what table service should be perhaps they had received no training which is a major failing when the restaurant is part of a hotel. It was not welcoming. The restaurant was freezing cold. The service was really very poor and the food disappointing. They also don’t take dogs which in Aldeburgh is a bit weird. There is plenty of space and the tables are large so they would not be in the way. We won’t be returning."

The food at this restaurant is exceptional and stands out from other typical Indian restaurants on the high street. We tried the Chicken Biryani and Mango Kulfi, both of which were delicious!

Really nice evening, lovely and pleasant staff drink order was a bit slow but they were very busy at our time of arrival. Food was really nice and prices are not bad, will definitely return this was our second visit and all was still good.

We’ve been three times to Sea Spice and each time we leave saying we won’t be back. For some unknown reason, after a period of time, we think the food will have improved and we go back encouraged by a special discount offer. Maybe we have now learnt our lesson.

Amazing food as always!! We have been here every time we come to Aldeburgh !! It’s a real treat and once again, the food was superb ! The non alcohol larger was great too ! The service here is spot on and very welcoming . Alfie served us and was charming and we learned lots about the surrounding area from this young chap ! Thanks Alfie . Rather than an Indian Restaurant it would be better described as a hotel that serves Indian food, as a result lacks atmosphere. The Vegetable Biriani appeared as a slab that looked like it had been turned out of a microwave dish on to the plate and was predominately rice with the odd vegetable interspaced. Service was adequate but lacked attentiveness and felt like they were operating at least one person down.

Having eaten here before, we were disappointed with the service and value. Portion size has definitely reduced. As we were a group of 8 we had been asked to pre-order. However the starters arrived before the poppadum's so had to be returned to the kitchen. When the starters were served the second time the prawns had to be returned as they were cold. Then 7 out of 8 mains were served together, the final one turned up when everyone else had finished.
