"This is a great pub and food is normally very good, however we went there for a Sunday Roast and we were very disappointed, we chose pork with crackling, the crackling was totally inedible as it was as tough as shoe leather and the waiter did also agree that he would have a word with the chef and the potatoes were under cooked with black bits in. It was very disappointing."

"The thing with a place that just serves food on a big board is the ingredient standard and presentation has to be spot on... and here it really is. Great variety of meat and cheese, lovely wine, good accompaniments. All obviously not bought to a price. Couple of notes for first-timers like me. Not complaints, just notes: 1. If you order a board (pic below is the 4 person) you get a lot of meat and cheese and not much bread, olives etc. If we go again (we will) we'll order a smaller board and more side dishes, especially bread. 2. When booking, you get a choice between high and low tables. High is like sitting at a bar on a stool, low normal table. Whatever floats your boat. So in summary: I loved it and will return, and I think with experience will get more out of it."

"Nice ambience. Lovey staff. However although the food was tasty our party of four all felt thankful that we had ordered the “Sunday roast Soaker” as apposed to the “moderate”. The ‘expected’ large soaker was a much smaller portion than we expected at £15 a plate we won’t be going back. Don’t get me wrong, what was there was very tasty served hot. If the portions were bigger we would definitely return, but as it stands we’ll head back to the Rope Anchor in Poole town centre."

"We decided to go and visit the snowdrops at Kingston Lacy and then was looking for some where to eat. We have a puppy so needed something dog friendly. What a find the car park was very busy but still plenty of seats inside for...lunch. I had the salmon and my husband had the liver and bacon both meals were hot and good portion size and food to enjoy. We had the apple crumble with custard as I heard another customer say what lovely custard they made here. So we thought we would go with the customer recommendation. non alcoholic drinks, main meals and pudding just under . Service was exemplary and they went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. We will back."

"This restaurant was recommended by a friend so we chose to have dinner there for my birthday treat. At 7pm it was already buzzing the welcome was warm. Decor lighting created a cosy atmosphere tables were nicely spaced. Our food arrived piping hot, was delicious the helpings generous. The menu stated that ingredients where possible were locally sourced. We both chose the pork belly for our mains (our waitress told us they had replaced it on the menu with pork chop but by popular demand had changed it back again) we were not disappointed. The meat was soft melted in the mouth, the fat perfectly rendered, served with a creamy herby mash, al dente tenderstem broccoli lashings of tasty gravy. For dessert we both had the cherry bakewell bread butter pudding, served with cherry ice cream, also delicious, nicely presented with crumbs tiny purple flowers violets) My only disappointment was that on arrival we were told our allocated table was upstairs as I booked on line (on The Fork) had not been to this restaurant before I did not know there was an upstairs otherwise I would have requested a downstairs table and as the restaurant was full we could not change. The steep stairs were a bit of a struggle but one of the staff was a great help the stairs were managed with some assistance laughter and our dinner definitely was worth the effort."
