"We were regulars at the Gate until Covid, and have only 5 star reviews of it till we went there yesterday! The atmosphere and friendliness of the current staff lived up to expectations but the menu did not. I had been told when I rang to book that there was still an extensive vegetarian menu 2 dishes and jacket potatoes do not make an extensive choice. The vegetarian dish my wife selected was on the menu as having a bubble and squeak cake as part of the dish but when it came, no cake just a side salad. When queried we were told it was always served with a side salad and the listing on the menu was a printer 's error. My 'Christmas ' pasta did not contain the advertised mushrooms or meatballs but was very tasty. I noticed it had disappeared from the board after I ordered it. The only dish that came as advertised was the Fish and chips though the quantity of the chunky chips would have fed all three of us! There were other mistakes on the menu the 'pate of the from ' seems to be missing a day, and the coffees were advertised at £2.00 but charged at £2.20 though one can accept small changes due to the soaring costs of running a pub. Originally the pub had been owned by a gentleman who lived in the village and leased to landlords but now I see it is owned by Maxi Pubs Ltd. I doubt we will visit again."

I had a wonderful evening meal here and decided to return for a delicious Sunday lunch. I highly recommend this restaurant. The atmosphere was very friendly and the food was abundant and perfectly cooked.

Having recently moved to Fair Green We visited here on Saturday night with friends. A little gem of a pub. We stayed for food . All potions were huge and of great quality. Great atmosphere with a real wood fire in the bar.

The Gate pub now has a lovely new manager accompanied with a very good chef. At the moment you have curry a drink for £12 on Wednesday, Pie night with a drink on Thursday for £12, fish chips with a drink on a Friday for £13 can say the food is excellent.

I took my husband to this restaurant for our 5th wedding anniversary and everything was perfect. The staff were excellent, the service was great, and the whole place was clean. The food and atmosphere were fantastic. We absolutely love this cozy little pub. We have visited before and will be returning in a couple of weeks for our son's birthday. The waffles were amazing. I couldn't find any faults with anything.

I always enjoy the Sunday lunch at this restaurant, with a selection of 3 locally sourced meats. This Easter Sunday, they also had lamb on the menu, which is my absolute favorite! The lamb was cooked perfectly and served with an extra helping of gravy. The plate also included carrots, peas, swede, broccoli with cheese sauce, roast and new potatoes, and a large Yorkshire pudding. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be returning.

"My wife and I stayed here for a few days to celebrate my birthday. We chose Titchwell Manor due to its location on the A149. From here we can catch the Coasthopper up or down the coast. The bus stops are 100 metres outside the hotel. We were greeted in the car park and shown to our room behind the hotel. We had Basil number 21. It is a large comfortable room, with walk in shower and the fluffiest towels we have ever had. The room was very well heated and the bed was very comfy. Breakfast was served from a civilised 8am. The plate of fresh fruit was really good. If you choose to have you eggs poached they will be the most perfect you will ever have with their lovely orange yokes. The rest of the components were equally good and served with leaf tea or great coffee. The bars each had a lovely roaring log fire, where we enjoyed a drink before our meal. The menu choices we made were ham hock, brioche piccalilli and burnt apple purée followed by venison, Jerusalem artichoke and rainbow kale. The other choice was marinated beetroot, basil pesto and goats cheese cream followed by salt baked celeriac, sage and onion with crispy kale. Both meals were outstanding. The venison was very tender and the celeriac was outstanding. On the basis of this dish, a very under stated vegetable. Service was very good and served at a speed we dictated without the continual pestering we have experienced elsewhere. We will definitely come back here as the whole stay was a great experience."
