"Food was good, three of us had the roast choice. But the turkey arrived without cranberry sauce, or sausages. Something that completes the dish. Cranberry arrived in tiny ramekin but sausages were not available so there were two stuffing balls. This could have been pointed out when we ordered. Also no Doombar on tap. Only Ghostship. Better knowledge of what each dish consists of would enable the waiting staff to respond better to queries about the dish. Also the shared veg bowl for three of us turned up two minutes after the main course. Then five minutes after that another bowl. One larger bowlwould have made sense for the three of us. There seems to be a disjoint between ordering and serving. Perhaps this needs review. But will go again as the apple and blackberry crumble was lovely!."

Really tasty meal. Staff were friendly and attentive. We actually had our dog with us and they gave him some treats and water! The lady on the front end offered excellent Customer Service. Thank you- looking forward to next time!

the staff was very friendly, attentive and friendly. I felt like the young girl who served us was new, but only because she seemed insecure herself, but she did an excellent job. eating was nice, not too expensive. would recommend that one would come back happy. Voir le carte

The menu at this restaurant is excellent, with gluten-free options available. The staff are knowledgeable about gluten-free requirements and were able to accommodate more menu items as gluten-free for us. They offer service in both the restaurant and the bar, and are welcoming to visitors with dogs.

The Cuckoo has gone downhill since our last visit, the staff are good and the ambience is still there but the food is poor. My wifes order was good but my curry had been kept warm for some time, the rice was a solid mass that I had to use a knife and fork to prise apart and the rest was a congealed mess.

Love this pub/restaurant which has ample space for larger to smaller tables scattered in the restaurant to the bar area. Very helpful friendly staff members from either the waiter or at the bar. Felt very welcome on arrival and throughout each course. Nice starter to main courses desserts. Will be returning again as I booked a table for 6 for Easter Saturday. Voir le carte

We were so happy last night to share a drink with super Pete Biggin, of the fabulous LEVEL 42 here. One of my sons is in a Power chair, and there was plenty of space for us in the bar area. When Pete went we decided to stay and have a meal, we all enjoyed our mains and desserts, also the drinks we had! The service was great, and so were all the staff, thanks for a lovely relaxing time!

this is a picturesque and beautiful pub restaurant in the beautiful village of alwalton. we visit here regularly and find the food, but above all the service to be excellent. Today we were served by a beautiful dame called andruska (which I wrote correctly) and a fantastic young man named corey. our visit was just nice, the food was great, but our visit was made so great by the workers. we have been in this facility for many years and it was not always so good to run, but now it is our place for a great meal or cozy drink from it is simply beautiful.

"We hadn 't been here for many years and have been reluctant to try it more recently since it changed hands, and we 'd heard some devious reviews. However, we decided to try it for an anniversary meal, close to home. Pleased we didn 't listen to the reviews. The food was lovely, decent portions and very tasty. The service was excellent. We hate to be rushed, so when we finished our starter (a large antipasti sharing platter! we needed a bit of a breather and so asked for some time. We were listened to and given a decent break between courses. Everything we asked for was provided promptly and staff were all very friendly. We even got a surprise 'happy anniversary ' dessert with a candle, which was a lovely thoughtful touch. A couple of small things could have improved the experience a little. The atmosphere was lacking, but I this was largely as a result of so few people being there. Sadly, I think people have listened to the reviews, so for a Saturday night, it was dead. This isn 't the restaurant 's fault though. The background music wasn 't quite right for a Saturday evening in 'Italy '. And the toilets are passed their best and need to be better maintained, and stocked with toilet paper. We 'd really like to see this local business do well and hope they 'll work on the things that can be fairly easily improved and that local people will return here. We really enjoyed our first child-free meal out for many weeks and will return perhaps for a lunchtime treat with the children in the coming weeks."

"The Yard Castor is an outdoor restaurant that is connected to the main pub The Chubby Castor. They provide outdoor seating during the summer and a small indoor seating area in case of unfavorable weather. From the moment you are greeted by the staff, you are treated to a five-star dining experience and the staff were exceptional. The Yard places a strong emphasis on sustainability. They take great interest in the origin, sourcing, and ethical considerations of the ingredients they utilize with a guiding principle that food is health. They exclusively use seasonal fruits, vegetables, and meats. You can see a wide variety of fresh produce growing in their garden, which makes up about 70% of their produce. The remaining 30% comes from reliable and environmentally responsible partners. We visited on a Sunday afternoon for lunch when it was not too crowded, and I must say, it was one of the finest roasts I have had in quite some time. Accompanied by two companions, I started with the individually priced Rock Oysters, which were served fresh on a bed of ice. One of my companions opted for the BBQ Pork Belly, which was so delectable that we decided to order another serving. It was cooked to perfection and elegantly presented on a small plate, garnished with sesame seeds. The main event was the Roast Sirloin, roast potatoes, carrots, greens, Yorkshire pudding with a side of Truffle Cauliflower Cheese. My roast was cooked to a perfect medium rare. Although there was a slight delay in receiving our food, it was understandable as the Head Chef was personally overseeing the preparation of each dish. The attention to detail and care that went into crafting our meal was evident in every delectable bite. For dessert, I went for Rhubarb Frangipane Tart which was delightful. It achieved a perfect balance of sweetness and tartness. The combination of flavors was harmonious, and the texture was moist and satisfying. My companion opted for the Chocolate Mousse, which featured several unexpected ingredients such as honeycomb, popping candy garnish, thyme and a balsamic glaze. The combination of these elements resulted in a delightful symphony of flavors that complemented each other exceptionally well. The culinary offerings at this esteemed establishment, nestled amidst the picturesque countryside in a charming village, are simply beyond words. For those seeking an exceptional fine dining experience, this restaurant stands as a beacon of excellence, showcasing locally sourced produce transformed into exquisite dishes with meticulous attention to every detail. The staff, highly trained and exceptionally courteous, go above and beyond to ensure an unparalleled dining experience. Without a doubt, this establishment has set a new standard for Sunday Roast, surpassing all previous encounters I have had. It will be a formidable challenge to find another establishment that can match the extraordinary level of The Yard."
