The pub and restaurant offers excellent food with good service and a friendly atmosphere. It is a very popular destination for diners.

Food quality is well above what you expect but the prices are not.The quantities are very good too. Perhaps more vegetarian/vegan options would widen the appeal further Voir le carte

Lovely pub, good food. Service was not up to its usual standard this time and mistakes were made with the bill but, on the whole we had a great meal. A firm family favourite.

My friends and I went here on a Sunday and enjoyed a delicious beef roast. The desserts were also very tasty, though the selection was a bit small. The prices were reasonable.

Disappointed with the small choice in the lunch offer for £12. One diner was vegetarian and not likely to return. General temperature of the Chequers was quite chilly unless sitting by a fire/wood burner. Attention from waitress poor. Voir le carte

Really friendly service. Several perennial favourites on the menu that never disappoint like the amazing twice baked souffle. Food served promptly and waiting staff who know the dishes and can describe and explain them well. Good value for money

tldr: excellent service, good food, decent in a cozy environment, most affordable pub experience for one. in all the accounts we were a bit a humble group (14 people, only there for desserts and drinks), but the personal was so warm and accommodating without notice that we were an inconvenience they were together our separately booked tables (it was not possible to book for 14 online) without hesitation or drama. would definitely visit again.

We stumbled over this pub to find somewhere to eat near where we lived. What a little luck. Each course was excellent. The Moule were the best I had eaten for years, big fat and perfectly cooked. The brown shrimps on a crumb interesting) were also excellent and a generous part. The mains were venison and pork belly both first class. Finally treacle tart, thick and lemony. A good wine list with most through the glass or bottle, minimal supplement to glass prices. It's a long time since we had a meal where every dish was excellent. Very recommended. Voir le carte
