"Very disappointed with our visit for my birthday and our anniversary. We were taken to upstairs room, cheerless, with no ambience, unlike downstairs where we thought we would be eating. Our starter of Coquille St. Jacques was very poor, hardly any potato, one scallop and one prawn in a very thin sauce. The beef and mushroom pie again was in a very thin gravy with a thin one crust shortcrust top. At the end of our meal we let the waitress know what we thought of the meal and she did at least say she would let the chef know."

"Rang to place order very polite young man answered the phone and took my order . Ive been going there for years and placed my usual order of chicken tikka kari along with a chicken makani . I Got home and the kari was not...tikka ‘d . I rang to tell them , the other member of staff said they’d check with the chef n ring back which she did but said it’s not something that is actually on the menu and blamed it on the new lad . She then said the chef thought it was a mistake so did just a kari , but next time they’d be happy to make sure it’s tikka’d . To be fair the new member of staff wrote it down correct but the chef decided it was a mistake . It was also very oily a lot more oil than normal . Also the makani had really tough bits of chicken in that we couldn’t eat . Overall really disappointed and sadly after many years will not be returning . I suppose an offer of providing me with the correct curry this evening would of convinced me that they’d at least tried to rectify their mistake however the standard and portion size was not up to the standard I’ve got used to . She did apologise however I still feel massively let down . On the plus side my keema rice and meat samosa was nice ."

"Dissappinting. Asked for hot chocolate and didn't have any, asked for tea they didn't have any so got a latte instead. I walked past the kitchen and the hot choclate was on the side. Was abit annoyed but thought the woman may not have realised. Waited a while for our coffees and when it arrived it was just a standard strong coffee in a latte glass. Thought the woman may have accidentally mixed up so let her know. The woman who made them took them away to remake them. When she came back it was the same coffee warmed up in a cappuccino cup. It was scalding hot and I burnt my tongue. It was the worst coffee I had ever had. Don't put different coffee options on the menu if you can't make them. A latte is hot milk with a shot of espresso. Not coffee witha dash of milk. No apologies and the older woman was quite rude"

"No.5 appears to be in a state of transition of owners and it shows. We have never had a disappointing meal here until this last one. I have always had a little whinge that the menu hardly ever changes so despite previously loving the food when you have been a few times it becomes a bit samey . Recently went to the under new management White Houses and they have a fixed menu but lots of specials to add variety. Definitely top notch competition locally to No. 5 Service was initially very attentive but ended up as none existent. If I had been on my own, and not with a party, I would have abandoned the sweets the time we had to wait. Our server was young and clearly new and didn 't seem to have a clue when asked questions. Starters were generally very good apart from being a bit surprised when most of the party got a slice of brown bread that appeared to come straight out of a standard sliced loaf. What happened to the tub of warm rustic quality bread? Definitely lacked class. Mains were generally well presented and OK. I chose Beef Stroganoff again due to the limited menu, on a previous visit I had this and frankly it was the best I have ever tasted. Not so this time. Difficult to spot my strips of fillet steak , It seemed to be all mushroom with what steak I tasted being grisly and the sauce was just not right. The sweet menu selection was very limited and again unchanged. The jewel previously was the assiette of sweets which has now gone. Time has come to move on unless they re-vamp the menu and bring things back up to the standard of the old No. 5."

"The food here is amazing love it the staff go out of there way to help provide things that you need.. there is only one thing you need to be careful of and that is the car park where deli and dine is.. if your going there and your disabled mark sure you don't just put your blue badge in your window you need to get a ticket to register your number plate or they will hit you with a 60 pound find.. that is what happened to my dad he is devastated this happened.. other than that perfect place to eat"
