Got some cakes from the takeaway counter which were tasty and reasonably priced. However, the young server handled the cakes with her bare hands rather than use tongs or gloves.

Visited 4nights running. Excellent food and service. Had many of the dishes and all were very tasty and good portions. Small portions offered as well . Staff all very friendly and helpful.

Superb Sunday lunch (1 roast beef; 1 chicken) beautifuly cooked and served. The only slight miss was the 2 double expressos which were prepared into cold cups a common British error; they should aways be pre warmed. Voir le carte

We live relatively locally and this is our 'special ' place to go. Without exception we have eaten delicious food and experienced friendly, knowlegeable staff who cannot be more accommodating on every single occasion. We look forward to every visit and the sweeties and cakes are an extra bonus.

Busy Saturday lunchtime. Food good on the whole. I had fish stew followed by ribs stew very good, ribs OK. Duck and lamb curry were both enjoyed. First time any of us have had a Scottish Scotch Egg and it will be the last. As you will see from the photo it was most unappetising and inedible. Desserts were huge. Coffee was very good.

Came for for an early Sunday tea. Food (Steak pie, Mac cheese, lamb chops and calamari) were all very good. Really lacking on the staff front through, young unprofessional staff who can’t speak properly in dirty crocs… eek not a good look. Place also smelt of damp throughout (I think it was the thatched roof). Again, food was really nice but staff made me feel like I was in a rough pub and for that reason unfortunately cannot return here. Voir le carte

Arrived at Souters Kirkoswald for a 'chance ' (unbooked) supper. It 's been a while since I last ate there. I chose lovely homemade soup, followed by excellent lambs liver, with a glass of milk to drink. Ten out of ten, great, many thanks, all staffs I found helpful. The homemade soup was chunky, very much to my liking. The liver was very slightly salty (perhaps the chef used sea salt), but this didn 't in any way at all spoil my enjoyment. Tremendous hostelry type atmosphere, only adding to my overall enjoyment. In short, a very good dining experience all things considered, including costs. The waitress Sophie was a credit to the establishment. Thanks Tom

Was taken here on a business trip for dinner in a large group. Absolutely beautiful setting and very well presented pub. The interior has been decorated with great care to keep it in line as an old thatched pub, with roaring fires and lots of stone work. The food was just excellent, great variety and well presented. I opted for a seafood cocktail (just lovely) followed by a delicious 10 oz sirloin and the best chips I have ever had. A tiny pit of gravy served with the steak was an added bonus and was delicious too. And yes, I even had a dessert! Lemon meringue pie paired with fresh raspberries and raspberry ripple ice cream. Visited the Souters several times during our stay locally for The Open Golf championship up the road at Troon. There's a lively atmosphere in the place which was busy every time we went but always accommodating. There's also a bit of confusion in the air as it would appear any server operates at any table so you're not always sure where your food is coming from or who to ask. Drinks are mainly table service and this also suffers from the same confusion. However none of this distracted from our experiences. The food is very good, with a great choice and different daily specials. It does appear that the chef has a penchant for a lemon butter sauce which seems to be the base for most of the dis...
