Songkran Thai - Menu

This unassuming restaurant was absolutely delightful. Fabulous, tasty food with excellent service. Varied menu with lots of vegetarian and vegan options. This is definitely a place to visit.

Was in Cheam on a Friday evening and just popped in off the street, without a booking, so glad we did! Food and service were soooo good. Highly recommend, Thai green curry sauce was top drawer.

Staff very pleasant and accommodating. Decor was of a standard thai restaurant in UK. I found the food to be very salty, especially the chicken with cashew. Dont know if the chef had an accident with the salt, or whether they just tipped a tub of MSG in the dish. Green curry also tasted sour. Pad Thai was ok. Prawn starters were mostly batter.

Outstanding, delicious AUTHENTIC Thai cuisine. I’ve eaten in Thai restaurants all over England and can say without hesitation that Songkran Thai in Sutton is the best. The restaurant is quite small but not cramped with simple, but tasteful decor. The food is on another level. My sincere compliments to the chef. I look forward to coming back soon. Simply superb.

Unfortunately this restsurant is under new management. we have used this RESTAURANT for the last 10 years and have always found the food amazing... both eat in takeaway.. locally we do not go anywhere else... NOW...WE WOULD NOT GO BACK... THE NEW OWNERS NEED TO CLOSE SHOP... THE FOOD not enough meat in main dishes) THE PORTION SIZES.. shrunk). THE PRICE. at least 40% mark up). DISGUSTING...AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE ..

We had dinner in this lovely fairly small restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday. On entering, I noticed how clean and attractive everywhere was. Warm welcome. The food was excellent. I recommend the beef Massaman. Service was efficient and attentive. No loud music and large noisy groups as in many places. We could relax and enjoy conversation without having to raise voices. At the end, a small ice-cream with a candle was brought to make the occasion special. This is a personal caring touch and shows attention to detail. All in all, we certainly want to return before too long.

For years we had been visiting to Songkran Thai and getting deliveries from them too. The last time we decided to dine there we knew something was amiss when we couldn't access the website menu at all. We arrived to find new staff, bland decor and the menu choices much reduced, all very safe and unimaginative, with my favourites missing. I couldn't find anything I wanted from the limited menu so they agreed to put something together off menu which was OK but there are better Thai restaurants in Cheam, we won't be going back to Songkran unless the former menu and lovely staff are reinstated

I used to look forward to ordering a certain dish from the menu before the new owners took over, and when we visited, they did their best to reproduce the dish for me, a lovely big prawn and basil red curry. I thought that was very kind and helpful, and we enjoyed our satay starters very much, they were even better than we had been used to. So yes, it has changed but in many respects I believe it's better than before. I will have to try something new next time for a change! I certainly believe that whatever I order will be nice quality food, well cooked. I liked the previous owner very much and I'm glad they have given the restaurant into good hands.

Songkran are now on the 3rd lot of owners since lockdown and the new ones are excellent! The previous was a bit bland and before that was good, so bear this in mind when reading reviews below. I had green chicken curry with Jasmine rice on my first June visit (I always ask for less chicken and more vegetables) the flavours were amazing! We also had Garden rolls to share as a starter and the freshness of the herbs was obvious. I went again 13 days later and had the Chicken Larb salad with sticky rice; again the freshness of ingredients came through in spades!
