"We have eaten here before and had reasonably good meals. However on a recent visit I had gammon steak with egg and chips. The gammon, if you could call it that came out looking like a slice of pork, not remotely salty and pale in colour. The plate was swimming in grease from the eggs and water from the peas making the chips soggy. I told the waitress when she asked if everything was ok that the gammon wasn't good and I had to leave it. No-one from management or the kitchen came to see what the issue was and still had to pay full price! £17. To be honest I have had better gammon steak at a supermarket café! This was more disappointing as the meal was a treat from my daughter having taken the family on holiday. Hopefully this won't put us off going again, as we regularly stay in the area."

I had a lovely dinner experience this evening. The service was excellent. For dinner, the price per person was between £30 and £40. I would rate the food a 5 out of 5, the service also a 5, and the atmosphere a solid 4.

Quick service. The steak dinner was forgettable. While the steak was cooked to perfection, it wasn't very tender. The chips were undercooked, and the mushrooms had a burnt fat flavor. The atmosphere is lovely, with a charming old section of the pub and a bright, airy extension that opens up to a secluded beer garden. No matter where you sit, you’re sure to enjoy a fantastic meal. The food is incredible! I often come here for special occasions because the menu is great, and the huge banquet-style carveries are just delightful (you'll definitely want to take home a doggy bag!). I highly recommend this place; we keep coming back again and again.

I've only met the owner a few times, but he genuinely appreciates the warmth and openness of his staff. I might be a bit biased since he's a childhood friend of my mother, but I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. Frankly, it ranks among the best I've visited. The menu offers a nice, well-rounded selection. What I had: for starters, garlic mushrooms, followed by a game pie with chips for the main course, and a delightful passion fruit pannacotta for dessert.
