"our four-headed family had lunch here. we all like to eat, but we all agreed that the price-performance ratio could be better. starter for my brother were beautiful and well presented, but expensive; and I spent £51 on two netzens. a fish and chips and a chicken burger with haggis (approx. £15-16 per), and a bottle-cut house wine at £20. hmmm. eat and put so nicely, but perhaps check the prices carefully, especially the starters! my wife didn't like how her burger was presented on a wooden chopper board (or maybe a cheeseboard instead of a teller."

Excellent roast turkey lunch, very efficient service. Great position for visiting the Chapel and staying at Slatebarns camp site.

I recently visited a charming family-run hotel and restaurant with a great atmosphere and friendly, helpful staff. My only critique is that the menu seemed more limited than on past visits.

We were in the lounge bar near the lovely open fire. We only had a steak and a pulled pork sandwich but they were both excellent and great value for money (huge). Service was impeccable and it was a lovely place to visit. We will be back!

friendly staff and beautiful atmosphere. it was unfortunately not the best, all chips on our eating were cold and clearly not fresh. the prices are quite steep. the burger was beautiful. the mushroom toast was beautiful, but brot was not roasted, so it would chew quite, they would visit again, but not for one.

I stopped by this charming pub while I was in the neighborhood. The atmosphere in the bar area was cozy, and I was happy to see that they welcome dogs and provide water for them if needed. The bartender, a friendly young lady, provided great service. I decided to have lunch, which was delicious, and stayed to watch the Italy/France game. Voir le carte

This pub is excellent with a very friendly staff. I visited for dinner on Friday and Saturday, and the food was fantastic. As a vegetarian, I'm always concerned about what I'll be served, but I had no complaints at all. The staff, although young, were attentive and polite, providing great customer service. We brought our two small dogs and had no problems at all. We will definitely return next time we visit the caravan site, as it is conveniently just a 5-minute walk away.

amazing eating and the perfect sequence to visit the rosslyn capsule. go before an appetit, as the portions are very generous. we had the smoked laughs and the chicken paws as our appetizers and followed that with the steak pee and the steak and tumble sandwich for our net (many circumcisions also everything was perfectly cooked, especially the steak, not complain at all. service was great and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I'm sorry, no photos, we attacked eating as soon as it arrived.

"I am sitting in my room at the sun inn as I am writing. It's a Sunday. I checked in at 8 15. The one young employee who was in the building was professional but informed me on arrival that the kitchen had closed. Bummer but it is a Sunday. Upon asking when the bar would close he told me 10pm. I decided to go to the shops and buy some cold sausage rolls and a bottle of wine to mitigate the early closing and grabbed a quick single beer in Dalkeith in a bar that closed at 11. My intention was to pay more for somewhere I could have several drinks without driving but I tried to make the best of my origional plan. I got back to the sun inn at 930 to find not a solitary light on and figured I'll watch some TV instead. Only the TV didn't work. I dismounted it after trying to configure settings on the 2 controls. The sky box was not connected sinse it was a flat wall mount and there was only a single accecible hdmi port, out of three, that could be used. That was already oucupied by the fire stick. Now it is sitting on the dresser since it cannot be remounted with both availible devices connected. 40 minutes of fooking around and nothing has changed. The bar is closed. No night porter, no TV, no breakfast and a broken bathtub. All the reasons I paid the extra to come here instead of the cheaper airport option have be removed. The room is nice though. It's as good as an airport one minus the stains on the headboard of the bed."

"Having successfully completed a major project I took my team out as a small thank you. There were 5 of us and we arrived around 1030h for breakfast. We were greeted by the very .lovely Amy, who promptly seated us. She was polite, friendly and attentive. She took our drinks orders, then our breakfasts. We all opetd for the full Scottish at under a tenner each. The meal was fabulous, well cooked, piping hot and presented on high quality flatware with good cutlery. The sausages had a delicious crisp outer, the bacon was well done but not hard, the mushrooms were served in a wee bowl with chilli oil. The eggs were perfect, accompanied by a slice of chunky bread, haggis and black pudding. Beans finished it off brilliantly. The teapot was quirky and delightful. Alison, the owner was not only beautiful but very charming with it. She was involved in the serving of our meals and chatted to us as she served us, making us feel more than welcome. Five breakfasts with assorted lattes, cappuccinos and teas was under £70 so very reasonably priced too. I left a well deserved tip and Alison kindly let me know that the full tip always went to the serving staff, so very ethical too. My colleagues were all as suitably impressed as I was. I cannot recommend this place highly enough and the only shame is that my time in Bonnyrigg is over, and I dearly wished I'd found The Beetroot sooner."
