Port Charlotte - Carte

This week I had two meals at the PC and each time it was lovely. The food was delicious, balanced and creative, and the staff are lovely! There aren’t many options on Islay for vegans but I would always recommend this gem wonderful selection of scotch whisky too!

We tried both vegan entrees on the menu, and while they were decent, they weren't particularly memorable. However, they were still enjoyable. The pub had a nice atmosphere, and we loved having a pint outside while soaking up the sunshine and taking in the beautiful view.

the food and service here are great! lovely little restaurant with a cozy bar attached you can choose either to have your meal. The curry i had was delish (they have indian chefs which makes it very authentic) but the chips were the highlight the best i’ve had in ages!! a little pricey but i couldn’t recommend this place more. Has a section of the dinner menu clearly marked vegan, with around 5 options on it. Lack of starters/sides and deserts that are vegan but one of the only places on Islay to have clearly marked vegan mains! Be careful with the sides as they are not clearly marked we ordered a bread basket without realising the bread was made with milk. The main courses were really nice!

The restaurant has clearly marked a vegan section on their dinner menu, offering around five options. While there is a lack of vegan appetizers and desserts, it is one of the few places on Islay that provides a well-defined vegan menu. Be cautious with the sides, as they are not clearly labeled. We ordered a broth basket but were concerned that the broth contained milk. However, the main courses we tried were really enjoyable!

The friendly staff makes this restaurant worth a visit. I tried the tomato and roasted red pepper soup, but there is a fantastic selection of other vegan options that all sound amazing! They offer chana masala with basmati rice, a tomato wobble salad, and a mint salad. There’s also the pepper’s faithful steak, served with crispy cauliflower, rosemary potatoes, and braised salad. The friendly welcoming staff make this place a pleasure to visit. I had the tomato and roasted red pepper soup, but here is a selection of other vegan options, all of which sound incredible! Chana Masala with basmati rice, tomato onion and mint salad. Peppered cauliflower steak with crispy kale, rosemary potatoes and roast pepper salsa. Asparagus and wild mushrooms with toasted pine nuts without the mustard dressing. Grilled mediterranean vegetables with aged tomatoes. Updated from previous review on 2022-09-22

so nice to see a vegan area on the menu of this sweet pub. 2 starters and 2 main options. we had a cherry pea (like a creamy stroganoff, but was nice, needed a hauch of seasoning) and the cauliflower dish, which was delicious and healthy and fresh compared to all veg burger and chips we had eaten on the trip. the personal was nice and there was also an pineapple and sorbet dessert! they also serve for lunch, which is good, as there are no sandwiches for vegans on the midday party. updated by previous review on 2021-07-11

So nice to see a Vegan section on the menu of this cute pub. 2 starters and 2 main options. We had one chickpea stew (more like a creamy stroganoff but was lovely, needed a touch of seasoning) And the cauliflower dish, which was yum and healthy and fresh compared to all the veg burgers and chips we've eaten on the trip. Staff were nice and there was a pineapple and sorbet dessert too! They serve the menu at lunch too which is good as there are no sandwiches for vegans on the lunch section.
