"The venue itself has vintage style and tiny with 2-3 Bistro Tables at the window. You can stil try your luck to be seated outdoor between the pathways and cafe, esp. if its not wet outside. The food bar looks very inviting with its choices of cakes, salads and quiché. We were there actualy to enjoy a relaxed breakfast which turned out to be a endless wait. Our orders were:* a simple fried eggs (Œil de bœuf) with a slice of dark bread and bacon stripes for 5,20 EUR* Pancakes with Maple Syrup and fruits for 6 EURBoth organic origins.Due to our unknown that you are not allowed to order any food at the Salon, we gotta step out the Salon after getting our drink order and walked back to our origin. Our drinks were cold by the time the food were served at our table. Idont mind the price ( as the food was nice and the staffs are friendly), but the 40 mins waiting for such a simple breakfast was way too much."

Great salads and quiches. Informal, humble, easy, friendly ... Would go there again to have a big plate of different tasty salads...

Historic butcher shop with 19th century tiles and candelaber, Kölsch and homemade snacks and cakes. Some tables outside at the In-street Aachener

We loved the laid back vibe in this bar, perfect for a tipple on a warm afternoon in Cologne. There we were, the oldest hipsters in town, on several occasions knocking back the kolsch or a cool glass of grauburgunder wine.

We went here on sunday morning to have breakfast. We sat in the back, it looks a bit like a living room which makes you feel at home immediately. The coffee is just great. They serve breakfast but you have to order it yourself in another cafe next door, which was a bit strange. However, the food tastes amazing. I can recommend the bicher muesli with fruit and yoghurt.

Went for a lovely breakfast on a late Saturday morning. Yes the ordering drinks in one area and food at the former butchers counter is a bit confusing but worth it as the food was brilliant. I had the ham and chorizo omelette with added cheese and was struggling as the omelette was very large and satisfying. We Laos had cheese strammer max, scrambled eggs and pancakes and all were great. Also drinks were very nice. Highly recommendable and would definitely go back!!

I was on the "can you handle it tours" and the guide subliminally advised us that this the place to get ice cream. (Part of me feels he had a secret affiliation with the place!) The queue had been long when we passed it and many people dining in this establishment (was a very hot day); nevertheless, the choices of ice creams/sorbets where decent and delicious. One girl severing a long queue I give credit to, she was quick. It is definitely a place where I would want to try their cuisines as the interior decor looks romantically quirky yet chic, and I am curious what their food is about.

I have been going to Metzgerei Schmitz for many years, whenever I am in Cologne. I love the Tartes and Salads and espcially their 10 or more cakes. You go into the Metzgerei, a former butcher, and look at the display and choose. The waiter will then serve you at your table. Next door is the Salon Schmitz, a more see and be seen kind of place. I prefer sitting in the tiny Metzgerei. The quality of the food has not changed in all the years. They recently also opened an ice cream parlor down the street, which I can recommend. The waiters are usually students and it might take a while to order or receive your order, depending on how full the place is. But the artsy amosphere and quality of food...

We stumbled upon this and sat in the Salon part. Admittedly, the ordering system is a bit clunky and odd (you can order drinks in the Salon but you have to go next door to order food. The staff from next door will then bring you your food when it's ready and ask to be paid promptly) but the food was delicious. We both had the fruit pancakes with butter and syrup and it was delectable. The pancakes were American style with strawberries, blueberries and banana chunks in the pancakes. The staff were nice and polite and the decor had a nice vibe to it which was slightly reminiscent of a French cafe with its art deco style design.Wish we discovered it sooner (only found it on the last day), we wou...

My wife had eaten here before and wanted to take me here for lunch. We walked past just to check it was still open and noticed it did breakfast. Looking good, we ordered coffee and croissants in the clunky way a previous reviewer mentioned. The coffee came after 10 minutes and was good. 15 minutes later the croissants still weren't there, so we checked. "You're waiting for the croissants aren't you", they asked. We said yes. 5 minutes later, still no croissants and the coffee was cold. The croissants arrived as we finished paying and were putting our coats on to leave. No apology, just a grumpy excuse that they were busy. They were more chaotic that busy. Not risking lunch. With so much choi...
