"This was my first time visiting the Marerosa and I was pleasantly surprised. The staff were friendly and service was excellent. We went for the 3 course meal deal, which is £12.99. They aren’t signed up for the Eat Out scheme but that suited us as there was good spaces between tables. The food was good and freshly made. Nothing spectacular but then again we were on the limited menu. It’s BYO which is a money saver. Good range of options on the menu eg ribs chicken satay for starters; chow mein, curry, black bean, Kung po etc for main and choice of chocolate fudge cake, ice cream, apple tart or banana fritters for dessert. All in all a pleasant evening and I will return."

It wasn't nice, food very average, sauces terrible. Friendly staff. Satay sauce was like wall paper paste.

Lovely meal here with the family and children too, very welcoming efficient staff, the food was all delicious, and a great 3 course meal offer on which was great value.

The worst food I've ever received...Rang to speak to manager who said she didn't care would refund the money and blacklist from ordering.Surely in this current situation you want to keep customers, not drive them away...So shocked at her behaviour...DO NOT ORDER from this Restaurant Voir le carte

Really sorry to do it but my carry out was awful. I can’t even begin to describe it but even my two teenage boys left half their meal! Normally they would finish a meal and be looking for more but they simply poked at their curry and walked away. Don’t think I’ve had a worse take away!

Almost empty when we visited; cold and no background music. Food was ok soup, spring rolls, main courses all tasty. The surprise was the cost £12.99 menu X2 £37! Small bottle of coke £3; small bottle of ballygowan £3. Extra charge for soup. Waitress almost delighted to explain the extra charges. Better restaurants within 400m where the bill does not reach £30. Last in this place 10 years ago never again!

My husband called for a meal. He ordered Duck satay specifically stating with no onion , plain rice and soft noodles. The Duck was over 50 onions and peppers , satay sauce was like wallpaper paste gloopy totally inedible. The plain boiled rice was eggfried. I have never in my 59 years returned a meal BUT this was so atrocious I sent it back. Was given a refund . But a bad experience. Would never order from here again.

I have been ordering takeaways from this place from 1992. They are my go-to always. They have never let me down with regards to the food. My family and I have been in the restaurant several times including tonight and again the food was AMAZING. I was disappointed when I got the end of my 8 chicken balls, only because I am greedy. Our waitress Tanya was so welcoming and an absolute credit to the Marerosa. My food, either in takeaways or in the restaurant has ALWAYS been consistent The only issue I have is maybe the owners should do something about the outside to encourage more people in.

"Tl;dr this chef and this team are on their way to a Michelin star, so get a reservation while you can. We visited here Saturday 29, where we enjoyed the tasting menu by current chef John Hollywood. Their tasting menu is averagely priced, comparable to Dublin’s Bastible, with 6 courses actual, and plenty of wine. Aside from the setup, nothing else is average. The staff at Boat House are second to none. The atmosphere is similar to Hof van Cleve, with chirpy, witty staff happily serving customers and following the mood of the table. Their sommelier and wine pairing is particularly special, with each bottle subverting the trend, unexpected, but without compromising on quality (see: Bastible cannot figure out wine). Their sommelier is a wine nerd who’s happy to go into as much depth as you want, but you feed off the passion between courses, which is a really great dynamic between the staff and the table this is rare, usually only achieved at top star restaurants. I’ve never found this in the island of Ireland. The food itself is the perfect mix of foraged from land and sea, each dish testing and surprising you, but with some classics mixed in (beef Barolo your reward for trusting the chef). On the whole, the menu seems designed to subvert comfort you in equal measure, and succeeds with every course. You won’t find the same level of experimentation from many of the Italian tasting menus on the circuit, but that comes with the assurances of consistent quality and a journey that’ll never let you down, where subversive wine pairings inject a level of exciting chaos without risking the food. Between the atmosphere, staff, and chemistry at the table in the kitchen, a trip to Boat House can be held in the same regard as some of the world’s top Michelin star restaurants. They’re on the way. They have the ingredients, whether you know it or not. Better start those birthday reservations now."
