"We had a meal here on our 1st night in Ettal. There were lots of tables outside but there had been a motorcycle race on not far away and all outside tables were occupied when we arrived so we took a table inside. They had special home made burgers on the menu so a few of us had these and they were excellent. So big in fact that one between two would have been enough. Another well known burger (a Big would have looked tiny beside the monsters we received. The cost of our large and small beer and burgers? €30.00 a bargain. Highly recommended."

This cafe is situated outside the Kloster Hotel opposite Ettal’s famous monastery. Good food and drink. Pleasant location. Friendly staff

We dined here our last night in Ettal as a convenience after five days of day tripping in the area. It did not disappoint. Great setting and great food.

We enjoyed our lunch at the restaurant as a family of 4 with 2 young kids. The waitress was very attentive and helpful. The food was really nice. I can really recommend the steak from the grill and Apfelstrudel!

...which means ice cream, coffee, schlag (whipped cream), not cold coffee over ice. This is yet another thing I really appreciate about the Germans. Can't say much more, other than if you need a cold drink (beer, coffee, whatever), this is a nice place to take a break. Voir le carte

This traditional restaurant offers a good variety of Bavarian food. The problem is that at the evening of our visit the offer was limited to just a few meals. Unfortunately our waiter was not in the best mood. To sum up, a place worth to try and hope for a friendly service.

We wanted to get a Kloster Bier here and were successful in addition to getting dinner. Some menu items not available till after 6 (such as the Cordon Blkeu), so we missed out. However we did have an excellent Schnitzel and a zweibelrostbraten. Lots of good Bavarian Food. Friendly wait staff.

Diner at this restaurant while staying in the hotel. The food is delicious! They’re in our group ordered the schnitzel, which was very good. The mushroom sauce was excellent! Also had the cheese and bread starter, which oddly enough arrived after our meals. The meals were excellent, the starter was just ok. Voir le carte

This restaurant is just opposite the Abbey, and during summer you can sit outside. We had a very short stop, on our way to Fussen, and even though we had some difficult requests (some dishes were to-go, others to sit-in), we were served very quickly and efficiently. Our food was absolutely delicious, especially the goulash soup!

The food is decent, the prices really reasonable. It's lovely to sit outside in the sun and have a meal. Menus in English are available. The service is a bit slow, but we did choose to eat here twice. It seemed to be one of only a couple of places open when we were there in early June. Cash only, but an ATM is available right next door.

"Vist Oberammergau several times a year for work and always make I sure I come here, and as unimaginative as it seems, I always have the schnitzel - I just can't resist it. Perfect thin escalopes of pork in a breadcrumb which includes bacon bits, served on delicious buttery saute potatoes with onions - comes with a well dressed side salad too.You get 2 food size schnitzels per portion, which seems generous (though I've always managed to finish them off). Other dishes on the menu look good too (one of our party had the lamb and was very pleased) and the desserts are also very good. All in all it's a must-eat stop in Oberammergau for me. Wolfgang and his wife are always friendly, and welcome returning visitors with genuine warmth. Other staff can be very German (which of course they are) - not rude or impolite, just direct in a way which you don't normally find elsewhere. For example, a request for fries with the burger (let's face it, a very reasonable one) was met with a 'nein'. No explanation, no beating about the bush, just a straight 'nein' - at least you know where you stand. And the kitchen may close while you are finishing off your main course - don't expect to be told and asked if you would like to order dessert. Overall though, these are not reflections on the restaurant, but on the German tendency for plain speaking and rules. I've given it a 5, which is possibly generous, but it's more than a 4 - it's a great place and I will always return."
