"We have visited this place numerous times for coffee and lunch and it has always been amazing. Upon walking past last night we were surprised to see that the doors were open and people were sitting in side enjoying a drink and looking at a food menu. So we thought we'd pop in and have a drink. The owner was very welcoming and pleased to see us as we're fairly regular customers. He told us they are now going to be open on Friday and Saturday evening's. We sat upstairs on the roof terrace and as I expected the food was outstanding and the wine was wonderful just as their coffee is during the day. If you're looking for a nice relaxed, inviting and comfortable atmosphere to have a drink and/or a bite to eat then I would definitely recommend coming here. Very reasonably priced as well. We had a fantastic evening and will definitely be back soon!"

Three of us stopped off for a coffee after the long journey from Bearsted and we couldn't have picked a better place in Canterbury.

I stopped for a light lunch at this charming little cafe on Butchery Street. I had delicious scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam and a cup of much needed coffee.

Our group of nine ladies met for coffee at Lazix. We booked a table upstairs on a quiet weekday afternoon and enjoyed drinks and cake. Service could have been a bit more attentive, but overall this very central place is recommended. Voir le carte

Four of us wanted light bites after visiting the Cathedral so we went up the steps to the terrace without entering the cafe downstairs. Good service, tasty food and relaxing away from the hurly burly of the busy streets. A good find.

Had a sharing platter and bottle of wine on the outside terrace before going to the Marlowe. The food was both delicious and beautifully presented. The place to go on Friday and Saturday nights if you want good food in pleasant surroundings

A friend and I were on holiday in the area and this was our first visit to the city. We had done a fair amount of walking and sightseeing and were need of sustenance and a sit down! We just happened to walk past here and thought it looked our sort of place.

"After never visiting Canterbury before we where looking for somewhere to have a late lunch, we came across this place which looked ok, upon entering the back room we were offered to take a seat in the front area and someone will be with us. We asked what food there was and we where sarcastically shown the food on the blackboard, after choosing what we wanted the polite man went off and put the order in. We did feel that because the man had asked a couple of questions to another member of staff that he was spoke down too a bit. Anyway after placing the order and what we wanted the food came out it wasn’t correct but because it seemed like we were going to interrupt the people in the back room we just took what we had. It was nice food though. When we went to pay we hadn’t noticed that there wasn’t a price list so when we asked for the bill we were told that it was donation, what we thought was enough, it wasn’t posted anywhere and it took us by surprise as we where standing at the till, I was going to pay in cash but was told they don’t take cash so I had to give my donation in card by telling the person how much we where donating. After plucking a figure out of air as we wasn’t prepared we paid and left. Upon leaving we felt that the person we paid thought we hadn’t paid enough and wasn’t happy with the amount but after working out what we would have paid properly we worked out that we had paid more than what it might have been if there was a proper price on everything. Overall it has a great ethos and it’s great for giving people the experience that they need to be in a working environment but they need to show the price or tell customers first that it’s donations and card only."
