"Good value, laid back Malaysian restaurant right in the heart of Cardiff's friendly student land. Parking is available in street outside the restaurant after 6.30 (and before 8am) or in the surrounding area (Cathays). Serves Malaysian street food a variety of small bites to start or as side dishes and main courses of Nasi Lemuk coconut infused rice with hard boiled egg, slices of cool cucumber and a small spoonful of fried anchovies, peanuts and chilli sambal. We didn't try the desserts or hot drinks (e.g. hot chocolate). The food was distinctive and tasty and felt as if it had been cooked and prepared with care. Chilli ratings are available on the menu for the Nasi Lemuk dishes. I have noticed that some reviews report the food to be too spicy but we all loved the tasty mixture of spices and flavourings and didn't find them too hot. Between our party of 4 we had two chicken rendangs and two turmeric chickens with a portion of chicken wings plus 2 beers and 4 diet cokes. The total cost was £53. They also do takeaway orders which can be delivered by deliveroo. It was very busy on the Saturday night we visited with what looked like family and friends groups. We all agreed we would definitely visit again to try the rest of the menu."

they love to eat the authentic Malaysian street, but not happy with the price. £2.50 for half a bowl (coz it is pathetic small) of nasi lemak is ridiculous.

Love this place!! Takes me back with its very authentic flavours. Malaysian food is such a perfect fusion of Asian fragrance with Indian influences and depth. If you haven't tried it...do it!! You might just surprise yourself. Voir le carte

from jalan malaysia to lunch during my business trip to cardiff. I ordered Nasi-Lemak with lamb (picture) never know that these two would make a great fusion dish. super delicious. probably the best Nasi lemak I ever had in Europe. I wish they could give the sambal just one puppy player more. the chicken wings are beautifully spiced and fried. top notch.

Let's be clear. I don't really have much of an idea about authentic Indian, Spanish, Malaysian, Japanese or almost any other international cuisine. However, I have a series of iterations from everyone and I know what I like. After they have eaten some mediocre and good Malaysian food in cardiff, I think that caf malaysia comes trump. when we visited last night, there was no empty table in the house. the looking out for a bottle of crispy tigerbier for 2.10 almost immediately let me fall in love with the place. Woman President g ordered a cup of strong, sweet and milky Malaysian white coffee 1.80) a starter of the roti canai 3.50) was immense. two generous crispy, soft...read more

"It was the most bizarre experience dining here. First when we arrived in the restaurant, our group set up was that there was someone on each end who was sitting facing an empty chair on the other side of the table. Upon enquiry we understood it was a covid measure, however never had any other restaurants requesting such seating arrangements in the past 20 months. We ordered two split pots, a non-spicy broth for one side of the pot and a spicy broth for the other side. The staff came to confirm that we wanted spicy/non-spicy in each pot. Yes, we said. To our shock when the pots came, one pot was spicy/spicy on both side, and the other was non-spicy/non-spicy on both sides. This was after the staff had came by to confirm that we wanted a spicy/non-spicy set-up, and in the usual situation a person wanting a spicy broth would not have asked for a split pot. We raised this to the staff and were clearly unhappy about it, though did not insist on having the broths changed around. What happened next made it the most awkward and uncomfortable dining experience ever. From where we were sitting, we could hear the owner reprimanding the staff for the error, throughout our meal. We understand mistakes occur and if the owner was unhappy about the mistake and genuinely wanted to apologise, taking the initiative to change the broth to the right setup, or a complimentary drink or dish would have gone a long way. But no, he chose to reprimand the staff within our hearing for the whole dinner (which didn't help the situation one bit and made the experience worse! . We felt sorry for the staff. Even with the hospitality shortage, that was a completely wrong way to help the staff improve, nor help retain them in the long run. I don't remember anything about the food, although photos did show a good range to choose from. At the end of the meal we each received a box of hello panda, which might have helped, if not for the fact they were expired. All in all, would not recommend."
