"I was looking forward to Oli Joe’s because, from the outside, it seemed to promise authentic Italian dining and a perfect place for our celebrations, but unfortunately, the character inside of the restaurant didn’t live up to my expectations at all and the atmosphere was rather flat and uninviting. A lovely, traditional menu without any of the usual surrounding charm you’d expect to go with it. The service and quality of food on offer both deserve to be matched with a bit more of a formal environment, in my opinion. We were able to choose our own table and felt like both the waiter and waitress were very welcoming and attentive. Our party was served quickly, and although some of the flavours lacked compared to other Italian restaurants I’ve tried (the garlic butter with the Pollo Kiev was a bit bland and the garlic mayonnaise tasted devoid of garlic), I was pleased that the effort was there with the presentation, and that the general ingredients were also of a good standard, which made for an enjoyable meal that‘s otherwise only let down by the setting. For a casual visit, it would have ticked most of the boxes— nice staff, decent food the prices aren’t bad — but I found the overall experience to be quite average for a special occasion and wouldn’t recommend it for that type of event, which is a shame because this place isn’t quite doing itself justice."

"Stayed in Beamish Park Hotel across the road 4th -8th August 2022 and after a day at Beamish Museum first day fancied a meal and drink How amazed we were with this place. Super friendly staff making all 4 of us really welcome.The meals were freshly prepared and extremely well presented.Cooked to perfection and served all together so we started and finished as a family.Even the local regular people made us all feel welcome and joined in conversation with us.This place was so good for the next three nights of our stay at the Beamish Park Hotel after a days outing we returned to the Causey Arch Inn to have evening meals and drinks, it was that good, the meals were outstanding and as always we were welcomed to the extent we were nearly classed as locals.I would urge anyone staying at the Beamish Hotel to walk over the road and try this place ,you will not be disappointed, but I believe impressed with everything from the atmosphere, the meals, drinks and local people who are genuine down to earth people who do not judge but welcome you as guests and friends.We are already planning our return and will give our custom to this place.Why go anywhere else when you have such an outstanding atmosphere staff, meals the whole 9 yards.Thank you to everyone for your welcome and service, we will see you again definitely."

"First and Last , service slow, bill fast ! The Stables Beamish Hall hotel This was our first visit to this restaurant for Sunday lunch as part a family celebration weekend , we were a group of 9 . We had booked in advance so we were directed to our table in what is a nicely decorated former stable . We were given menus after a while we ordered some drinks after a considerable wait , our drinks arrived . After another wait we gave our meal order, we were just about ready for our next drinks when the first course arrived. The first course was a little slow in arriving but was very nice . At the conclusion of the starter we made a second drinks order and waited for the main course to arrive and waited and waited . when the main course arrived we had already been in the restaurant for an hour and twenty five minutes. The delivery of the course was less than any decorum of service. The male calling out loudly the meal and putting down to each without any acknowledgement. A waitress said that’s it and started to walk away and had to be advised we were two meals short . After another relatively short wait the meals arrived . It then became apparent the lamb special was delivered without any mint sauce . A small point perhaps but we had to try and attract a member of staff to solve the issue . normally we would expect someone to check if everything was okay with the meal . Not likely , we gave up on the wine we had ordered as we were now two thirds through the meal, so went to the desk and advised them to cancel it. We finished the main and decided not go with a desert as we were by now quite confident it would not be delivered any time soon . However we had two small children who were awaiting a desert as part of the children’s meal , the 8 year old decided to go and ask for his and was directed back to the table whereupon the waitress arrived, the table was cleared and took the children’s order, as I said we had all given up on that idea . The children both got their deserts . The bill was requested and within only a few moments the bill was delivered . In fact to be honest that was the fastest thing to be delivered during the entire dining experience. The food was reasonably good but the service wasn’t bad, it was absolutely atrocious We left the premises and we unanimously agreed none of us would be likely to ever return . My advice find somewhere else to go for a meal particularly if you are in a family group . This review is not quite as comprehensive as it could have been there are many other issues with this venue , but if you don’t get the message it’s up to you . REV23 1/10"

"had the most beautiful meal here today with my mam, 2 courses for the incredible price of £6.95 we were ready to feel welcome when we went through the door. we both chose Steak Piee, which was just beautiful. jam filled with melt in mouth meat, served with domestic chips and plucked. then we were presented with a side of veg and a gravy boot! unnecessary to say that we fought for it. then on a cap I decided for the crumb apple crumb with custard and mam the pineapples on the cake. kriech, huge portions, but tasty. beautiful eating, beautiful staff, really recommend. Thank you."

"I will not be going back here if I’m paid. Besides the fact they’ve taken almost all of the vegan options off, there’s a curry and fajita, which isn’t really a fajita it’s a reheated sloppy wrap! I know this because when asking about allergens or if I can take stuff out I was told it was all premade. I asked for a gluten free wrap as it was part of the option and was given a regular wrap and told about that after I had began eating it! I made my allergies very clear and the waitress tried her very best and was lovely but it seemed the kitchen staff really didn’t have a clue and something in my food set off a reaction even though I’d checked and there shouldn’t have been anything in especially since this meal was meant to be vegan (my main allergy is milk)... On top of this, the lady who came over to assist was extremely rude and insisted if I didn’t need to go to hospital it didn’t really make any difference and it wasn’t their fault so they wouldn’t do anything! Reluctantly she refunded me and said “here you go Madame if your money will make you feel better take it we obviously don’t cater to the likes of you” utterly appalled.
