"I will not be going back here if I’m paid. Besides the fact they’ve taken almost all of the vegan options off, there’s a curry and fajita, which isn’t really a fajita it’s a reheated sloppy wrap! I know this because when asking about allergens or if I can take stuff out I was told it was all premade. I asked for a gluten free wrap as it was part of the option and was given a regular wrap and told about that after I had began eating it! I made my allergies very clear and the waitress tried her very best and was lovely but it seemed the kitchen staff really didn’t have a clue and something in my food set off a reaction even though I’d checked and there shouldn’t have been anything in especially since this meal was meant to be vegan (my main allergy is milk)... On top of this, the lady who came over to assist was extremely rude and insisted if I didn’t need to go to hospital it didn’t really make any difference and it wasn’t their fault so they wouldn’t do anything! Reluctantly she refunded me and said “here you go Madame if your money will make you feel better take it we obviously don’t cater to the likes of you” utterly appalled. Due to the lack of care and their lack of options they should be taken down form here ! Updated from previous review on 2021-06-09 Updated from previous review on 2021-06-10"

I had a lovely afternoon tea at South Causey Inn yesterday. Anyone who think vegans are missing out on anything is mistaken. I had more than enough food and all very tasty. There was a dish of warm pear, rocket, red onion and cherry tomato salad, a plate of bruschetta (of sorts) with herbs, lots of sandwiches jackfruit, cucumber, slaw, two scones, chocolate cake, sorbet ice cream, fresh fruit, macaroons, strawberries dipped in chocolate … I think that was it.

I have stayed and ate here many times. In 2016 I was proposed to here and on Monday gone, 2018, I had a wedding in the Durham Suite. It was amazing and went above all expectations. The staff are amazing friendly and very helpful. Nothing was an issue. Everyone at the wedding commented how lovely the food was and we all had a great night. The wedding coordinator and DJ made sure everything ran smoothly. Thank you very much for everything I would recommend your rooms, food and weddings to anyone. Perfect

South Causey Inn, Stanley We hired a pod for 20 people outside, pre-ordered afternoon tea and finger foods like onion rings, wedges etc. Service was superb, unlimited coffee and tea pots refills, really impressed with their vegan afternoon tea Even though we were outside away from the main building, a press of a button and staffs were there straight away to help. Recommend for small parties like baby shower, birthdays, special occasions. They have pods for 4 people up to 20 people. £26.30 per person include hiring of the pod, (20people) Voir le carte

we visited a high time in the snow yesterday 02/06/2018 we had not heard of this place before and can only say if they were looking for a place that has a lot of space and private sphere this place has it all its beautiful well presented both inside and outside. the food was nice and the staff was also great. After we left the car overnight, we decided to go to Sunday lunch today 03/06, I honestly don't think we would look at all cars and people, but this place is huge. again, the food was nice and the personal super. would be highly recommended to stay in one of the rooms as they look great. we will be back on a stage. thanks for the hospitality.

only came from an amazing night in the new pampering suite rooms to say we had a fantastic night; rooms were amazing how to eat from afternoon tee / morning breakfast and the treatments were top notch; just what I needed. my only critic is that there are no windows; so at the time of tomorrow I came ready to leave when began to feel a little claustrophobic. we had the use of the outdoor-hoof area that we used in the magnificent sunshine, but would have been nice if it was a door/window straight from our whirlpool (bunkhouse room) that they open and feel as if they were outside more (if it would be if it really rained). besides the amazing and such a lavish. we look forward to booking. highly...

we were happy enough to celebrate our high time in the old barn yesterday (24th juli 2018) and what a solid it was. every aspect of our high time was excellent. from our taste night to our bachelor and bachelor party, my pampering package, our whole day and night were the employees of the evil incredible. the team is dedicated, professional and simply wonderful. emma, our high-time coordinator could no longer have done for us. everything was so well organized and well assembled. their recommended suppliers were also incredible. excellent value for money, first class service, highest standard, incredible facilities. I would recommend it to everyone. many thanks that they gave us a day that we... Voir le carte

This venue had a lovely varied vegan menu before lockdown but now there are only 4 things on the main normal menu 2 are salads. I have tried both the Superfood Salad which first time was delicious and a good size. The following week however it was £2 more expensive and half the size with most of the ingredients missing. I had to complain after which it was returned to me with a small amount of extra ingredients but bulked out with practically a whole red onion. Two weeks later I tried the feta cheese salad as the only vegan options other than the Superfood salad were too spicy. I was presented with a whole block of feta plonked on the plate surrounded by a few leaves a sprinkle of walnut pie...

I took my omnivore mum for afternoon tea recently at South Causey Inn. Although, it was great that there was a vegan option, the quality of it was really disappointing, especially considering it cost £20. The products included were fewer than the other options but I knew this when we booked, I appreciate that it might take a bit more effort and time to prepare vegan food. The battered mushrooms with mayo were delicious. The sandwiches (BBQ jackfruit, hummus and cucumber, savoury) were ok, the hummus wasn’t very nice. Pear and onion salad was good. The strawberries were meant to be dipped in chocolate but weren’t and the lemon cake was non existent. The baked goods (fruit scone and banana cak...

"Started off really well and went over to the counter and ordered a crepe with banana and Nutella and specifically stated no strawberries I also asked for a San Pelegríno still water as this was on the menu also. I was the first person to order and the last to eat in the end. I got brought my water over which was a cheaper brand water that I just paid £2 for what would I have liked to have seen ? We’ll when I asked for san pelligrino still water to be told that they don’t have that in. Finally my crepe comes and I take a bite and realise that it’s got strawberries in all the way through which I’m allergic too. One of my family members takes it back and says that I asked for banana not strawberry there’s a reason why I can’t eat it and didn’t want it on my crepe. Then 5 minutes later another crepe comes out that was my bitten crepe that someone had opened up and picked the strawberries out and put banana in. Disgusting absolutely … not sure if this was a mistake or just being stingy either way it’s not on. It then again gets returned because there is no way I am eating that and it gets explained once again there is a reason I can’t eat strawberries to which then one of the owners comes over to serve the correct crepe and apologise . I really hope a lesson was learnt today because cross contamination is not a joke. Please be careful when eating there. I didn’t get offered a refund but then again they were willing to serve me a bitten crepe again so it didn’t surprise me that much."
