"We decided to take advantage of the getaway package which included 1 night's stay at the hotel, a 3-course meal, and breakfast. What an amazing deal! The room was stunning with all the little extras you could think of. There was a tea tray with proper coffee, a mini fridge with fresh milk, and a delicious slice of bread pudding. The bed was incredibly comfortable in a cozy, warm room. And the food...wow! The steak was one of the best I've ever had, and my husband loved his slow-roasted beef in black treacle and black garlic sauce. The dessert, particularly the ice cream, was out of this world! The wine selection was lovely and Ruth, the friendly landlady, served us perfectly. Her husband, the chef, did an excellent job in the kitchen as there were no complaints and all the plates were clean. We received a warm welcome and Ruth went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable. I highly recommend this beautiful pub with letting rooms. Coming from someone in the hospitality business, it was an absolute pleasure and I can't wait to go back!"

"We have been dining at The Globe on and off for fifteen years now and the food never fails to disappoint. After enjoying a fantastic and reasonably priced lunch on Christmas Eve, we decided it was finally time to write a review. The dishes were freshly prepared to a high standard, with our favorites being the guinea fowl in a mushroom and cream sauce with sautéed potatoes, and the sliced leg of lamb with redcurrant gravy and dauphinoise potatoes, both served with a selection of steamed vegetables. The wine selection is also excellent, with the Montepulciano red pairing perfectly with the meal. The pub has good disabled access, which is important for our elderly relative, and Adele and her staff were very attentive to her needs. Overall, it was a wonderful start to the Christmas festivities."

"Little Wiveliscombe has a real gem in Duende, but it's well worth the drive wherever you live. We received a warm welcome to this quirkily decorated and moodily lit restaurant, where the ambience is friendly and relaxed. We chose the five course tasting menu and...enjoyed every dish so much that we really couldn't choose a favourite. We started with tasty goats curd with beetroot. The second course provided the best piece of mackerel I have ever eaten. A main of sliced sirloin steak on a bed of the creamiest of creamed potatoes. The rhubarb accompanying a creamy panna cotta was cooked to perfection (and thank you, chef, for the instructions A piece of soft Bath cheese was drizzled with the most delicious honey (I meant to ask for the supplier, but forgot) and sprinkled with crumbs with a subtle hint of fennel. Each course was a confection of layers of flavour and texture. We chose a nice bottle of Tempranillo to accompany, which at was good value by restaurant standards. It was a lovely evening in all regards and we will be returning soon. It's worth saying that having read some previous reviews which mentioned small portions, I wondered if I should eat a large lunch. In fact, my day was so busy that I'd hardly eaten at all. I still left Duende feeling fully sated, and didn't even eat breakfast the next day. And I would consider myself to be a fairly greedy person. I think some people confuse quality and quantity. To my mind, quality is the more important factor, but Duende certainly left this greedy girl very happy in both respects."

"I ordered takeaway to be delivered to Waterrow Caravan site. As a long-time curry enthusiast, I can say without a doubt that the chilli chicken dish was one of the best I have ever tasted - truly first class. The tandoori chicken and pilau were also excellent. The portion sizes were very generous, the ingredients were top quality, and the heat level was just right - absolutely delicious. Thank you for arranging the delivery service."
