"3rd visit,though we'd try the Christmas menu,,,wrong choice Firstly waited 10 minutes to be seated in a freezing reception with around 6 other people,then shown into a hall , when I had booked the small area,then eventually ordered by the most dullest waitresses ever,the 2 young girl were fine. Good choices on the menu ,but the roast best was as tough as old boots,dog enjoyed it when we got home. Turkey was fine and plentiful. Kids had the steak burger, tastless, macaroni, no taste. Seeing it was Christmas the hall could have been a little bit Christmassy. Quick enough with the bill,but very poor service overall"

"we recently moved to peebles and wanted to try Indian. we were not disappointed by shukria. excellent vegetarian choices, efficient delivery and amazing food. the only small suggestion I would make is to deliver in strong paper carrier bags, because the plastic delivery bag is not recyclable, otherwise it would be 5 stars."

"we were looking for a caffe for a cuppa the afternoon, this jewel at the bottom found a little street away from the high street, very attentive staff, service very good, we had scones with jam drunk cream, a latte a pot tee. if I had a nigger, the. konenenenenen were quite large, the part of the two jam too small for the amount of skorone there. that is just an observation, no complaining by the way"

The rooms are stunning, making the Tontine a beautiful place to stay in the heart of Peebles."

"Visited this establishment whilst staying in Peebles for a few days. Arrived at approx 12.30, only one other customer in the place (a warning sign ? . No one acknowledged us but eventually one of the two staff asked us what we would like. Ordered two cakes, a cappuccino and a double espresso. After a while a staff member called out to us to collect our order from the counter. I was surprised that ,at nearly £20 for a couple of cakes and two coffees, they could not bring it to our table. My partner said that her cake was delicious, but mine was disappointing. I chose a Black Forest gateaux slice (yes I know, very 70s ! . The chocolate shavings on top were very good, the chocolate coating was too sugary and sticky. The cherry layer was excellent, sour with real cherries. The chocolate sponge however was poor, dense, heavy and tough. Either poorly made or very stale (made in the 70s for authenticity perhaps? . The espresso coffee languishing in the bottom of a large cup was bitter and tasted cheap. The service throughout our visit was indifferent bordering on frosty. Disappointing, particularly considering the excellent service that we received from other independent establishments in Peebles during our stay."
