"This is the second time I’ve been to this place recently. Last time was pretty awful, but I thought, they probably had a bad day. No, I was right the first time it’s bang average. I do not normally slag off small local businesses. But! You’re greeted by two miserable, unsmiling women. I asked for a decaffeinated coffee and a doughnut to have in their seating area. Now I assume it’s a bakery with a cafe, the bakery being the main part of the business. By the way, all the bread on the shelves, looked rather plain and unappetising. It did not entice me to buy any. The coffee is put into a takeaway cup and the doughnut into a paper bag. One of the miserable women was in the process of putting a plastic lid on my coffee, so I said, “no need”, “I’m drinking it here” pointing to their very unwelcoming cafe. “It’s easier to carry” she grunted. So I sat down to eat a very dry doughnut that had no jam in, but what looked like jam spread on the outside. Too be fair, the coffee was ok. I suppose they must be doing ok, it quite a big village. Perhaps it’s like having a captive audience. Surely someone could get hold of this place and, well, make it nice! As I drove away, towards Sherfield on London, I passed a convenience store on the left, outside was a Warburtons lorry delivering bread, rolls, crumpets etc. I thought, I can see why they don’t buy from the local bakery. This afternoon I’ve been to the bakehouse in Old Basing. The difference is staggering. One million times better."

Avoid this place. Served me food I am allergic to (different to what I ordered), with no regard for the danger of anaphylaxis. Very rude cashier told me that this is my problem. Very nice place otherwise

Here is what you get given to eat your soup, a tea spoon smaller than a thimble. Could have been worse could have been given me a fork. Actually could have been better off. If you have not got spoons don't serve soup.

Paid £9.96 for a loaf of bread and small pack of 4 rolls. Must admit I am in shock. You can get the same from a supermarket for a 1/4 of that price! Overpriced for what you get, won't be going back. Shame as live locally in Bramley and its one of the only things this village has other than an old knackered pub and a one stop shop! Doesn't seem like an overly hygienic place either if I am honest.

Went in the bakery today and noticed 3 rolls had been made up with ham cheese and a slice of tomato but no pricing. Ordered the 3 rolls and 3 sausage rolls and was asked for £19.30!!!!! Almost £20 for 3 ham and cheese rolls and 3 sausage rolls I think is utterly outrageous. I made the cashier double check but to save embarrassing myself and asking her to put them Back I just paid and left quickly. It’s a real shame as I used to love this place it’s certainly not affordable for us now.

What a great place this is to visit with a lot of choices on offer, rolls, baps, soup, bread and a tantalising array of cakes to mention but a few. This has been my choice destination for a bike ride for sometime now. Does get a bit busy sometimes but that indicates to me that other people also think it is worth a visit, it has adequate off road parking and even a bike rack. Excellent seating is available, inside and outside the choice is yours. All in all a great place that is all to absent on the High Street.

I was quite surprised to see the negative reviews. I popped in there due to its location to the station and had a cheese and onion roll made to order. Lots of choice of bread even whether I wanted red or white onion which was nice. The bread was fresh and the roll had lots of filling. I also had one of their vegetable samosas which again was loaded with filling, nicely spiced and enjoyable to eat. The service was good polite and attentive. Finally, got what I got I felt the price paid was fair. All in all a very positive experience!

We happened by this village bakery yesterday afternoon and decided to stop and buy some bread. We ended up buying more than the loaf of bread, two cheese and onion slices which were excellent cold, hope we can try them hot one day. Hot cross buns which were lovely soft and fluffy. The white loaf is also excellent, light and just the right amount of chew, can't wait try the apple pie. I have read some of the reviews and have to agree that the service wasn't warm and friendly, but it was perfectly fine. A local small business, ideal location next to the railway station we wish you all the best for the future.

On paper this place seems great. A bakery at the heart of a village, next to a train station and with parking out front. Unfortunately, after giving them several tries, we will not be back. The staff are not particularly friendly and definitely not very welcoming. The prices are not clearly displayed so it can be hard deciding what to buy. Also, the prices in this shop can be quite ridiculous....and interestingly..our local co-op stocks Bramley Bakery rolls, the same ones on sale in the shop, at a far cheaper price! I'd be happy to pay a premium price for a premium product but unfortunately their sweet treats are very dry. Would love to recommend this place but sadly I cannot. Poor service,...

"Our first visit. We cannot praise thank The Wellie highly enough. What a find! Peacefully rural on a quiet road to the south of Baughurst. A classic, pretty country pub, now converted to an excellent restaurant, with three rooms. What strikes you first is how immaculate The Wellie is, inside and out. The large garden is a delight. Masses of dahlias and all manner of bushes and plants. Birds, birds and more birds. Do check out the vegetable garden beyond the rear car park. You then walk inside to the warmest of relaxed welcomes from the owners, Simon and Jason, and manager, Sheila, and their lovely young helpers. Nothing is too much trouble. The first thing you’ll spot is the array of fruit, veg salad for sale by the pub bar – the Wellie Deli. Along with home made jams, chutneys, quiches, etc. I then spotted the two hand pumps! Longdog Golden Poacher Basingstoke Pride. The seating inside is for diners every session is a sell out! But I was very happy to sup several excellent pints of well kept draught Basingstoke Pride in the garden – until I discovered their Negronis! Truly the best this side of Kwant (Piccadilly). We’d opted for the room in the pub: the Apartment. Two rooms on the first floor, knocked through. Enormous comfy bed, large rainfall shower, sofa, mini bar – two TVs! Free milk homemade shortbread. One of the discoveries we made here is the fabulous tea they serve from Prince Sons. As you can tell by now, we were very happy with our first stay at The Wellie… and then we went down for dinner! A truly exceptional menu from Jason’s kitchen, which changes each evening. Highlights were the scallops wrapped in pancetta, the pollack, the lamb pot pie, the twice baked cheese souffle, the NY cheesecake, the rhubarb ice cream, the treacle tart... All so fresh, tasty, and mainly from their garden. What we loved most was it was relaxed but fine dining without the tiny portions. The Full English breakfast the next morning was equally tasty. All in all, we did not want to go home! Thank you Simon, Jason Sheila. We will be back, soon."
