Fazit: Preis/Leistung geht absolut in Ordnung. Wie immer gilt: hingehen, ausprobieren und sich selbst eine Meinung bilden. Für uns persönlich war es ein recht kurzer Abend in der Rodenhofklause, die uns insgesamt nicht gänzlich überzeugte."

"As I was walking to my hotel (ETAP), and started looking for a place to eat it was PM. I walked by the top hotel in Saarbrucken (part of the Relais and Chateaux network) and bumped into a guy pushing a stroller, and...asked him for advice. He pointed me to the Schlachthof and told me it was owned and operated by the same people who owned the Relais and Chateaux hotel we had just walked by. So I gave it a try. It's in a non-descript part of town, apparently close to the slaughterhouse hence their focus on beef (though pork, lamb is available). This is a meat lover's place. The restaurant looks quite new and shiny with a larger room in a type of glass walled space, and a smaller room next to the bar where I sat. Service was efficient and friendly, english limited, but we got by, with a little help from patrons sitting close by (French). I'm not a big beef person, but went for their choicest cut it was nicely done, and good, coming with a modest selection of well cooked vegetables. I had ordered a beer to start euros! Sure beats Paris prices and also a glass of good Bordeaux to go with the meal euros more like Paris.. I came out of the restaurant feeling good about the experience. I thought it needed another years of operation to give it a little more of a well worn in kind of feel (it did feel like construction had just finished). Otherwise, I recommend it."

"We tried to eat here on Friday Pm 2/24/17. There was some type of German celebration, with lots of people dressed up in costumes. We could not even get thru the front door. So we decided to leave. This was a little difficult to find parking for and the entry to restaurant is in the back of the Town Hall Building. We were looking in the front of building. There is also a tourist center inside but it was closed later Friday pm. It's in a Beautiful building, Neo-Gothic style designed by architect : Georg J. Von Hauberrisser. Erected 1897-1900. He also was the same architect who designed the town hall in Munich - Gothic Revival style. I also read he designed town hall in Wiesbaden as well. We returned 2/26/17 Sunday. No problems getting in. We have eaten at several of the higher ranking restaurants on trip advisor and both my husband and I felt this was much better than its number 8 ranking. We had a wonderful waiter named Steven. They had menu in English which was greatly appreciated. We could have deciphered the menu if we had too but it just made it much easier. Our drinks were brought out quickly as well as our foods ordered. We shared the potato soup. I thought it was a little bland tasting. Some spices or salt needed. But if you get a bite with the meat it tasted better. My husband had the Jäger Schnitzel. It was the best he has had so far in Germany. It came with small whole potatoes. I ordered the Turkey Breast with side of mushroom gravy and roasted potatoes. Also very tasty. Very good sized portions. I actually took half of mine home for lunch next day. We were too full to try dessert but they sounded good. We each had a dark beer and I only could drink 1/2 as it was making me feel to full so husband drank the rest and I had a glass of white wine with my meal. The beers and wine were very good. A neat atmosphere. It was not very crowded and we both really enjoyed it and are happy we gave it another try to get in. We would come again and I would recommend."

"I'm not keen on negative reviews, as everyone is entitled to an off night, bit the experience was pretty shoddy. Was a busy Saturday night in Saarbrucken, World Cup quarter finals playing everywhere... and we were a party of 7 that hadn't booked anywhere on...an overnight stop over. We checked with the restaurant if they could take us, they said yes and led us to the table. Staff were pleasant and helpful. This was about 8pm. We ordered drinks, food, one of which was a mixed platter of cold meats as an entrée. The mixed platter arrived an hour later. An hour. For sliced cold meat. The waitress was apologetic and as we were in no rush (at that point), we just ordered more drinks. The platter was pretty average, but then we'd just come from Italy where Antipasti, Salami and Cheese is infinitely better. By 10pm there was no sign of the mains. We asked when the dinner might come and the waitress said she would check. When she came back, the response was that they couldn't tell when they would be ready, but not soon... and that was it. This is 10pm. Two hours after coming in and being told they could accommodate us. The outside tables of the restaurant were busy, the large inside pretty empty. We chose to pay (a lot, because it's pretty expensive) for what we'd consumed, and left. Shame the staff in the restaurant kitchen didn't care as much about their customers as the waitress did, but even so... a shoddy service, elevated prices that simply benefits from its location in central Saarbrucken. There are better alternatives all around the centre, some of them much better value too. I'm sure they have better days... But if you want to get a reliable, quality service at a good price... Maybe don't choose a Saturday night at Gaathaus Zahm."

"Ristorante Michelangelo Every year this is quite true. Always on the first Advent Saturday Fräulein, my mother-in-law and I will go to the Saarland capital. Just this Saturday, next to the Christkindlmarkt, on the other side of the Saar there is the more interesting Advent market that rises to the castle. Always well visited and liked to receive from my lady. In the past, we started to stroll around eight, then was usually eaten in the boat brewhouse. For some years we have been driving by car, not going so much and driving to the Italian Ristorante Michelangelo. My father-in-law swears to the place and is always looking forward to being a little boy when he's here. Even if he always eats the same menu... Of course he had reserved weeks for this day. Although this time it was not necessary, the few times I was there, the restaurant was never really full. Rare more than eight to ten people. A quarter of an hour ago, I met the two ladies in front of the restaurant. It is not far from the pedestrian zone, directly opposite the beautiful town hall, which reminds more of a Gothic church including tower. A beautiful building. The building in which the Michelangelo is housed is more sober. An already elevated corner house, but rather inconspicuous, as well as the display of the place itself. Just in the dark you quickly passed, just a small showroom with menu items to a restaurant. I'm glad we knew... The father-in-law sat in it, had bought in the city still Ringelnatz and read in a glass of wine. He doesn't have it like a great Christmas market. Neither do I, but what you don't do as a fresh antrauter... So we go to the restaurant and can only get to the guest room after a few steps. During the first visit you have to swallow properly and let the room lick visually. Here is tried to make noble, many balls, stucco, gold and punk, you could have been my Harald Glööckler interior design. The chairs alone could be treated for one hour to capture and admire everything. And as unpleasant as they look, they are not even... The walls classically white up to the one front wall on which we sat, there is an excerpt from the famous ceiling Frisco of the sixth chapel – the creation of Adam's detail, also with cracks the wall. Imposing... The tables are covered with large ceilings, Christmas decoration “enchanted” the room, as well as the candles, silver plate and beautifully folded fabric napkins. There are already heavy silver cutlery for three gears. Not to forget water and wine glass, as well as the bar candle. As I said, the father-in-law was already sitting, we were still kindly greeted and received by an Italian waiter, so about the sixty. After a few short speeches he took the dressing room and we went to our table. The cards were handed over and we were allowed to see. The map offers almost everything the average German Italian offers, but you probably want with offers like lobster and oysters. Various salads, typical appetizers, but no carpaccio, three soups tomato, lobster, fish different pasta and also a few pizzas. Various meat dishes steaks, pigs and turkey carvings, lamb and fish. And of course desserts. And in the price, everything that raises the question of “really fresh” cuisine. So much selection can only be held via TK. Only if the store is so rare full... In addition to the á la carte, there are a few menus that compile one for about 35€. Looking back, a real bargain! What I don't like on the map is the lack of open wines. White, red, rosé. Finally, there is a rather attractive wine map, but today this was no alternative to two glow wines, a driver and a “if the females were already a prosecco... I then decided for the open white, a Chardonnay without further designation, and only mentioned on request. But he knew to please a light, dry white wine with fresh citrus notes and no trace of heavy wood. A second should follow in the evening. Fräulein remained in Prosecco, the father-in-law still approved a full, velvety Nero D’Avola from the slopes of Etna, almost also a mulled wine; The accompanying water was that of San Pellegrino, something else. Unfortunately, the prices for all this cannot be mentioned as I was invited and I could not remember the prices. There is no greeting from the kitchen here, would be even more beautiful at the cheap menu prices. Only a basket of bread was served, which was renewed in the evening. Since I tried Garnichts from the other courts tonight, I only take a short time to choose my loved ones. The parents chose the Michelangelo 68€ menu as usual??? , five courses as if there were: six different small appetizers on a plate of oysters, Vitello Tonnato, vegetables, seafood salad, crab cocktail,???????????????? Pachero Safran Ricotta Sorbet Rinderfilet Chateaubriand Art Dessert again chose the vegetarian menu 25€??????? , four courses: Roman salad fuckuccine with mushrooms Grilled vegetables Dessert by type of house I set my menu myself from various possibilities, a total of four courses for approx. 35€. However, it should take some time until it started, as a society of ten people was only to order, and the funny waiter had to make his whips with everyone. The second, somewhat younger master, then merciful and brought us the appetizers. Salad with Frutti di Mare For the beginning a decent portion. A large square plate of course with gold rim was in the middle of its mixed green salad, by the way well made, then there were several marinated pieces of the Squid and Pulpe. In cocktail glass, river crabs, the pack has a very good fruity olive oil. On a gourmet spoon there were two peeled juhu shrimps in a herbal dip. There was another piece of slightly smoked salmon I liked. The wort of the individual components was good not to despise tastefully, I don't need the cancer meat again. What was not so great was a hair I found in the salad. I'm not so sensitive, though it can't happen! 3* It took some time to clean up their appetizer board, so it was also clarified in stages and asked for satisfaction. At the same time, the first rose seller of the evening came to our table, but was allowed to get out without sales. The second course: spaghetti with seafood Here again a decent portion. The noodles of biss and salts are acceptable, the tomato sauce fruity spicy with fresh herbs, as well as marine animals such as mussels, squids and shrimps. Here and there is a cocktail tomato. It's a good dish. 4* Fräulein had the stone mushroom noodles, because my taste was also frozen mushrooms, but acceptable, the sauce had significantly too much fungal taste for me, I suspect the use of perfumed mushroom oil. On the other hand, the open ravioli of the two-person menu looked really good! Actually we should stop after that, as the sorbet only for the two gang menus, but as in the past I and Miss also got the delicious sorbet from the Williams pear with a good shot Williams pears fire. He really had it in himself and the ice cream also tasted very good. ****! 4* The second rose seller came first. I always thought they would all look the same, but if there were three such bands standing next to one at one night in four hours, you can make the fine differences... The most important courses were filled with view. The rinderfilet Chateaubriand was served, for example, in a large pan where the supplements were also served. The meat looked too much to my taste, only in the middle was still a little pink to see. The fried edge was very wide. Tasteful but okay. Fräulein got various fried vegetables such as fennel, stuffed tomatoes, broccoli, eggplants and zucchini, where you could not do much wrong here, salt and pepper were sufficient. My main course... Edelfischvariationen Has not dared to ask what are noble fishes, also had the assumption that here TK fish comes to the table, but I was simply not for meat. And then it didn't get so bad. Good, juicy and tenderly roasted was no one, but also not dusty, fried dead. It still lived everywhere and also tasted in delicate fish meat. For the vegetable ensemble of cauliflower, broccoli, carrots and Kaiserschote all crisply poor and well seasoned lays then different fried fish fillets. Wolfsbarsch, fried on the skin, but then laid : Dorade, mullet, who was even a little juicy, with some salmon and two pieces I could not really define. 4* If the dessert were not already included in the menu, I would no longer have ordered it. So everyone came the same plate... Dessert like the house A very airy nock of a chocolate lady chocolate, was already very good. A piece of Tiramisu with real biscuit and not prepared with drunk baby cookies. The mascarpone cream cream cream cream cream cream cream, the coffee content for my taste amazingly low, for which the marsala can be tasted well. In addition, a piece of Panna Cotta, not too sweet, exactly right, naped with red hat, whose origin I do not suspect in the place. As fresh components a piece of kiwi, a half strawberry without taste, what miracles, grapes, a piece of mango and non-filed mandarin slices, however, at least without a core, but argly sour. In view of the fact that we were sick, it was fine and suitable for the menu. I can't give more than 3.5*. Tiramisu's out! Two espressos were ordered at the table, and then I took the cookie I found in my jacket pocket this morning. Luckily it was full. And the third rose salesman could look again. Even he's unsuccessful... The payment process went without problems, the additional Sorbets of course did not calculate and the farewell very personally and with handbeat. You like to come back! Conclusion: Somehow I have the impression you want to play in another league, but fails with your own claim. What does not mean that it does not taste here or you do not get much for your money. The latter is clearly refuted. The food is plentiful, also tastes reasonable and only the menus are not cheap measured at the portions! I fluctuate between 3.5 and 4 stars for food, the quality of products then rather the simple, i.e. TK variant, the use of fragrance oils and the convenience crabs make me down. It tastes better with fresh products! 3.5* The service is friendly, sometimes there are water, at the right time asks for satisfaction and here and there is also a spicy. This works honestly and professionally at the same time. 4* I described the environment in detail above. You must like it. It'll hit me a bit. Finally, you can spend a nice evening for two in peace. 3.5* Cleanliness is perfect at first glance. Only under the high ceiling should one remove the spider webs, for this the entire decorated chairs and other objects are usually free from dust and dirt. The toilets in the cellar are also well maintained. Even if only one tap is running, there are warm water, toothpick and mouthwashing. And if it takes longer, there is even a chair to sit 4* I should have the PLV at the top, even for the many TK fish the prices are very human. Nevertheless, I can and will not give more than 4*. We still come from tradition, every year... 4 – again happy 1 – certainly not again, 2 – hardly again, 3 – when it comes back, 4 – again happy, 5 – absolutely back to the kitchen"
