"we had a very bad experience here. not only the meals expensive £15 for a standard bean chili! my partner ordered the vegan chicken burger and thought the cheese looked suspicious as he had melted. he checked with the kitchen and they said they had given up milk cheese and taken away. when a new meal had arrived, I had finished mine. we mentioned this at the bar, as we paid, I also had to appeal to the superior, because she did not ask how everything I had worked for years in the hospitality community and they did not really seem to be disturbed, even if I said my partner has a milk allergy. very poor service, average eating and serving milk with vegan dressing avoid!"

many vegan options such as pizza, vegan chickenburger, burger, sausage and maic. I had a whistle and a maze and it came with a lot of veg and was really nice!

Lively, charming, and full of personality. The food and service were outstanding. The location was excellent and the decor was fantastic. The food was also top-notch.

Excellent experience. Wonderfully upbeat and attentive staff, even on a hot day. Very welcoming for us and the 4 dogs. Generous amount of tea and great vegan mushroom wellington. Very much recommended.

Had the mushroom wellington with chips instead of mash, veg and gravy it was delicious. The staff were super friendly, although the service was a little slow, possible due to the 'Eat Out To Help Out ' scheme

better than most places in the city, but very disappointed that they have taken the mushroom wellington from the menu. they can veganize most dishes, but £16 for super market standard vegan sausages and maic is a bit silly.

My fish and chips were freshly cooked and very tasty. I loved the home made tarter sauce too. My husband said his pie was delicious. The service was friendly, courteous and efficient. Lighting and ambience was good and everywhere was clean. I look forward to visiting again

Lovely pub and restaurant with a dog-friendly atmosphere, which was a plus. The menu offered a wonderful selection of delicious dishes to choose from, and the dessert was also very impressive. It was the perfect spot to recharge after our walk to Kendal. The staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating.

fantastic pub, a real gem. what a local pub should be. for a pint and a fast sandwich fought, ended again for tee. I had a very big and tasty plow. the merciful said that they had no sinking, but would add a few other bitsit, was huge, probably the best plow I had. my partner had a curry and really enjoyed it. Top food, great personal, brilliant local pub

"Staff were very friendly, welcoming and efficient. They were also very kind to our dog. We had drinks and food and though the drinks were good, the food was not. The words 'frozen ' and 'microwave ' were forefront in my mind throughout. The mash potato I had with my pie was face meltingly hot suggesting the microwave was used, and my wife 's battered fish was mushy and watery suggesting it was deep fried from frozen. The batter was also only about 1mm thick and was like wise mushy. The meat in my chunky steak pie was definatly chunky but was a little too firm (not tough, just not tender. Probably the wrong cut of meat rather than badly cooked). I then had the caramel apple pie as did another member of my party. While his was hot, mine was cold. I had mine with cream which when it arrived, had bubbles in and was luke warm. What I think happened was that mine was microwaved first and then drowned in cream and left to sit while the other was microwaved. This mean mine cooled in the cream while the cream warmed. It also meant that the pastry on the bottom went soggy, and from the rest of the pastry, it didn 't seem like it had much crisp to begin with. Now I know that times are hard and pubs like this can 't be expected to make everything from scratch, but there are 3 other pubs close by and unfortunately this one is doing nothing to stand out from the others, in terms of food anyway. Overall, a nice place for a quiet drink, but I 'll not be back for the food. The only saving grace was the price; £80 for 2 rounds of drinks (1 pint, 1 coke and 2 halves per round), 4 mains and 2 desserts...I suppose you get that you pay for though..."
