"My husband and I happened to be on holiday in the area and called in to buy pasties and some cakes for afternoon tea. We queued outside to take our turn, as only two customers were allowed in the shop at a time. We finally...entered and purchased a meat pasty, which turned out to be ok, nothing special would have been better off with a Ginsters pasty. We also bought a vegetarian/vegan pastie which proved to be very disappointing, having hardly any filling and rock hard pastry. I might add that the young lady serving was very miserable and offhand. We were about to choose cakes, when her assistant an older lady, at the back of the shop, shouted out to tell one of us to leave, if we were together, as someone else had entered the shop. Surely that person, should have been asked politely, to wait outside like we had! This assistants attitude and manner left a lot to be desired. Anyway, needless to say we didn’t bother to buy any cakes, they didn’t deserve our custom."

I have bought items from Winnies a number of times and the service and friendliness of the staff has always been excellent and the choice of snacks, cakes and bread is great. The bread is great from Winnies and they have a good choice of...gluten free bread as well, as well as corn bread which is really nice.

"Been wanting to try this ‘alternative’ pub for a while. Large car park with plenty of space, no steps or slopes into the bar. Access for buggies, wheelchairs etc should be okay, my mother walks with the aid of a frame and has no issues. Inside the decor is certainly alternative but in a great way, loved it! Plenty to look at, keep you entertained and talk about as you wait for your food or just pass the time. Staff were friendly and welcoming, there was just one guy running the bar, taking food orders and bringing food out; I thought he needed a helper or coworker really. There is a decent bar area with seating or there is more ‘restaurant’ style seating further back beyond the bar. We chose to sit in the bar area seating which is a mixture of booth and chairs. Dogs are allowed in which is great, there is free Wi-Fi which is good as my mobile signal was very poor. The menu is standard pub food, quite a bit of choice and plenty of options for gluten free. I chose to have the fillet steak cooked medium, I had a starter of garlic bread but chose for it all to come out together. Mother had beef brisket loaded fries, the portion was massive so I had to help her finish it. The steak was perfectly cooked, I chose to have the peppercorn sauce; this was a bit watery and bland. The steak comes with chunky chips, peas, mushrooms, tomatoes and onion rings. For dessert I had the nutty apple crumble with ice cream, it was okay. Overall this is a great venue with acceptable food, friendly staff and awesome decor that will keep you talking and looking all night. Based on this experience I would visit again."
