"The girl behind the bar was very rude. As soon as we arrived she asked what name the table was booked under and repeated it back incorrectly. She then asked what we would like to drink. My partner asked for a becks, which was served in a bierra moretti glass. I asked for a house white wine was told they didn’t have a house white. She then reeled off eight names of wine, all white. I said I’d have a Sauvignon to which she said ‘New Zealand or French?’ She then served me a New Zealand white in a red wine glass! I was also under the impression they do Sunday roast as shown on their website from 12 midday with no end time was very disappointed when there was no roast on the menu. The waitress we ordered food from was very nice and polite. My partner asked for Cromer crab after ordering it thought about how he was going to de shell it. He immediately asked a different waitress if they could de shell it for him thinking if they couldn’t he would order something else. She didn’t come back with an answer so he had to ask again!! I have no complaints about the food. The food was very nice. The chef also did a good job of serving the crab as requested. When we finished our food we went downstairs to pay the bill the rude waitress slammed some glasses on the bar right in front of us. We just paid the bill and went."

The atmosphere at this restaurant is lovely, with friendly and professional staff who were kind enough to accommodate us despite our late arrival. The food was delicious no matter what we chose to order!

Had a fabulous meal. We sat upstairs and then had an acoustic musician playing downstairs who was excellent. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly and efficient. Next time I visit the area I would definitely return.

My friends and I had a fantastic evening at this restaurant. We ordered Sole, Fish and Chips, and a Burger, and everything was delicious. The service from the female staff members was also excellent. I highly recommend this place.

Excellent food qulaity as top chef here as the food is always top notch. Lovely staff and food is at great prices, Only downside is I would advice to book rather that just walk in often fully booked at weekends. Best restaurant in Beccles...!

Visited this week for an evening meal with a business associate. Fantastic service from the two young ladies who were looking after us. I had Thai fishcake starter which was amazing !!! Lovely bit of chilli heat in the sauce. Beef brisket for main which was substantial and very tasty. The accompanying veg was also good.

Tonight was definitely one of the best meals I have ever eaten. I ordered the beef brisket I have never seen such a large slab of meat cooked to absolute perfection in my life! My son had one if the hugest burgers he has ever seen, and although he's a big eater, the burger beat him!! The desserts were gorgeous and beautifully presented too. The staff are absolutely lovely and very attentive. We will definitely be returning soon!

I went to this restaurant with some friends on August 30th. My wife and I ordered the tiger prawns as a starter. We were surprised to find only three medium-sized prawns on a plate with a small amount of rocket, and no bread. The price worked out to nearly £3 per prawn, which seemed expensive compared to what I usually pay for prawns. For our mains, two of us ordered the chicken pie. It was essentially a bowl of chicken casserole with a separate pie crust on top, along with a red wine sauce - a strange combination. I was looking forward to the cheese board for dessert, but was put off by the high price of £12. In France, cheese is a common dessert option on menus, and I have only seen it off...

"Having been a regular customer for over a decade to The Bell Inn, I was left very underwhelmed this time. Room was lovely and clean as usual, Tom on reception was fab. We chose to dine in the restaurant as normal and booked for 730pm so we had a nice long evening to enjoy eating and drinking. The menu is now very limited compared to previous years, we chose to have 4 starters to share and some rose wine with bread to start. Slight delay on bread, which came crammed on a small plate, which we had to ask for side plates after waiting for the waitress to reappear…the oil and balsamic was awful, there was so much oil chucked in the ramekin we had to ask for another, to pour some off to try and get to the vinegar. Food came out, and was put on table, again had to ask for side plates as we were sharing and still had bread on the other ones. No drinks check. Had to wait at bar to order more. Food was mediocre at best, we both have very good appetites especially after the harbour walk and some wine! but both ended up just picking at it. Ended up going to room with our wine very early, the only other table in the restaurant that was occupied had some sort of problem ordering due to “fryers being turned off” and got sandwiches and chips instead! Slept well as usual. Went for a quick dog walk before breakfast and narrowly avoided being hit by the chef arriving at 845am in the car park. Arrived on time for breakfast at 9am, lovely, lovely waitress served us, ordered full English and pot of tea, partner the same with coffee. Took a sip of the tea and it was barely lukewarm… spoke to waitress who was very apologetic and bought me a fresh one, turns out the rest of the room all had the same problem with tea and coffee as the urn hadn’t been turned on in time see chef comment food came out and was delicious and hot, and top quality as usual, we cleared our plates! Room was spotlessly clean, and the Tyneham hand wash/cream is so good! Overall disappointing as I know how good this place can be, and the first time I’ve ever encountered any problems. As stated before it was not busy in the slightest compared to previous years, so no excuse really. I will return as The Bell holds dear memories for me, I hope next year it will have ironed out these problems and be back to full glory!"
