"A real local restaurant tucked away in the village of San Ambrosio in the pine forests above Barbate. Amazing selection of fish and meat not something you would expect from a local venta. Our waiter showed us a large platter of the fresh fish, and clams they were the fish of the day, so we selected Anchovies and Clams as starters to go with grilled fresh vegetables. The Bocarones were some of the best we have ever had and the Clams were perfectly cooked and in a delicious sauce. The vegetables were stacks of charred, tender veggies. Everyone one but myself went on to steaks, which were all huge! I had the Venison Stew which was tender and the sauce rich and dark awesome. All these dishes came with chips/french fries, which were fabulous and probably double cooked. We drank Protos, a really good Ribera del Duero, which went so well with the meat. We shared a Chocolate Carrot Cake, and a Cinnamon Flan for desert once again way above your normal venta standard. Obvious a popular local spot as there were riders propping up the bar when went in and a baptismal party in the large dining room with much singing and clapping of hands. Just brilliant. It was so busy they had tables and chairs set up in the parking area! Highly recommended."

the place was fine but it was a little saturated and the waiters gave no more. We ordered shrimp tortillas that brought them very made and a squid on the dish very well done too. I'm fine. Voir le carte

I have been a customer for more than 10 years. good food and unbeatable prices. the only problem is that for a few years, in summer we have to reserve so we don't take the surprise of getting out of the table.

Venta Luis is a small family run venta in the small village of San Ambrosio, and is surprisingly busy for the location they get a lot of locals, but also a diverse range of visitors from the surrounding areas. Bring an appetite! The food is some of the best country cooking you will find and the portions are huge. We ate there with 4 people, and ordered a couple of tapas and I think 5 media raciones and there was far too much food with tons left over. Both the wild boar and venison stews are awesome, if not too great for the arteries! Highly recommended, and if you are visiting the area it is a really nice drive from the coast through the pine forest to get there.

"I have mixed feelings about this restaurant. It’s fine dining, prices are very high, ambiance is to the level. Staff could be more courteous, some were really nice, some were not. You can’t deny the food is high quality, but it’s not as impressive as I’d have wished. The best part about it is that you get to learn about Tuna and that they serve parts of it that aren’t found in most restaurants. However, what should have been the star of the night, tuna alla sal, ended up being way to salty for me. I was literally feeling my hands go numb from overdoing in salt. However, the people I was sharing it with didn’t have such a strong reaction to it. It might be that I got a piece of the tuna that had most of the salt. In any case, the server should have shaved off the salt better before giving it to us. It’s a pity, I’m sure that it could have been amazing if it wasn’t for the overbearing salt. I’m pretty sure there are great dishes in the menu that we just didn’t order, so maybe my experience was a very particular one. As for the desert, it was not in the level of fine dining. I wish I had gone to a different restaurant on my visit to Zahara de los Atunes, but I think that’s mostly because I felt this was too expensive to leave with mixed feelings. Unless I got a table by the window. That’d probably have made it all worth it."
