"I arrived yesterday for lunch and ordered a large glass of Merlot and a half of Diet Coke. I was charged on my switch card £14.45. When I questioned the price I was told I’d been charged for Malbec and not Merlot. I was given a refund in “Cash” I have never had any refund on any purchase return to me in coins when it’s been paid on a card!!!!! Quite wrong. I ordered the loin of Lamb with dauphinois potatoes. The meal was not served with dauphinois potatoes but pave potatoes. I questioned the potatoes and the waitress told me that they were definitely dauphinois. Sorry I am a foodie, I know my potatoes and they were definitely not dauphinois. The other members of the party remarked that the vegetables were undercooked and inedible. The lamb was tough and the whole course extremely poor. The waitress offered me an alternative but I declined."

Fabulous as always. The chicken breast was so tender and the steak and kidney pie was rich with gravy and thoroughly enjoyed by my partner. Great service from Maz and the team

We had a wonderful meal with our family to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday. The food was delicious and the staff was extremely friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

We came as a family of four adults and were welcomed at the door, shown to our table and offered the menus. Very few beers on offer but large wine and spirit menu. We ordered our meals and chatted while waiting for the starters, these...

What a lovely experience, the atmosphere of the restaurant is amazing, the staff are friendly and helpful. The food well where do you start, full of flavour quality, quantity is excellent and cooked to perfection. I would recommend the black pudding or cowder starter. Steak was divine and the homemade ice-cream was heavenly. Voir le carte

It’s become a bit of a tradition for us to have our first Christmas meal of the season at The Woodman, near Claverley. The food and service were excellent as ever. We’ve noticed a tendency for some restaurants to reduce the size of portions. NOT HERE! The turkey came with three vegetables and the usual accompaniments. A delicious Christmas pudding rounded things off. Go and visit. Have a treat.

The Woodman is such a joy. The staff are lovely, attentive and efficient. The food is delicious, well presented and reasonably generous. The atmosphere is perfect, as it’s fairly small and contained. I had the dressed crab salad. I always always have it, and thought about trying something different, but this is so darn delicious it wins hands down every time. Looking forward to our return The Bread Sauce debate people.

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity. "Fantastic range of small dishes and meals for lunch and dinner. The menu ranges from scandi to oriental, so something for everyone. The menu is clearly marked with allergens, including what meals can be adapted. The chicken is halal and vegan and vegetarian options are plentiful. The cocktail and mocktail menu is great and they do one of the best espresso martinis in Shrewsbury. The decor is modern and comfortable and there is plenty of space. As a wheelchair user, I can get into the ground floor and to a table. The outside seats are up a small step, but the whole front of the building is a retractable wall of windows, so I can still get the feeling of eating outside in good weather. The service is friendly and knowledgeable about allergies, the menu and the wine list. The staff are helpful and unobtrusive. The only difficulty for me (hence the 4 star review) is that the accessible bathroom is next door, in their sister bar, Libertine. Unfortunately, libertine isn't open the same hours as HotRS, so I can only use it at certain times. The ladies does have a lock on the door, so staff have cleared the ladies toilets, which allowed me to take my chair in and lock the door. I had to walk a couple of steps to get into a stall but my chair was safely with me. Of course, there is also no alarm cord, but they stood outside the door so would have heard if I shouted for help."
