"The person at the bar was very rude towards me and my Nan and when we asked for of our meals without veg so rudely replied with “It doesn’t come with veg” however we are regulars here and we know that it usually comes with veg so she asked her deputy manager and she said too that it didn’t come with veg so we thought that we where maybe mistaken. When our meal came they had veg and this annoyed me a lot because we had to send our meals away now if they had just checked probably we would never have had that problem in the first place. When my nans meal came back it was stone cold and it’s was not able to be eaten so we ask for it to be redone. This was a huge problem as my Nan is diabetic and really needs to be eating at her usual time the meal took an extra half hour for her meal to come out and only came out when we asked where it was. I am very annoyed with This service and it will make me consider come here again !!!!"

The food at this pub chain is quite average and nothing out of the ordinary. Expect to pay around £10 to £20 per person.

I visited this JDW for the first time and was impressed. The atmosphere was nice, and our beef madras was cooked perfectly, tasting just like a traditional Indian takeaway curry. They had a great selection of beers and the prices were reasonable. The staff was friendly and efficient. I will definitely be coming back in the future. Cost per person: £10-20 Food: 5/5

Unless you'd like an afternoon of listening to people around you swearing every third word and waiting extra time for your food as your table is bumped down the kitchen queue, steer clear. We sat and watched as multiple tables that arrived and ordered after us received their order first as they were friendly with the waitress staff. These same tables spent their entire time swearing and complaining with the same staff with no regard to other diners (we and other tables had children present). The customers were served more alcohol even though they were clearly intoxicated which should see this restaurant lose its licence. The food when received was substandard. Don't bother.

"This pub has a beautiful summer garden and we enjoyed watching the variety of wild birds that flittered around. Whoever maintains the garden does so with pride and with knowledge of how to create a wonderful space. The same pride and knowledge is not represented...in our experience of the food. It took over an hour to receive a burnt fish chips and a fish burger that was a tiny bit of cheap fish cake. The fish cake tasted unsurprisingly dreadful, more potato than fish, a frozen bought in effort and was returned uneaten. After the hour's wait the kitchen was closed so no alternative was offered. The fish chips were supposed to come with creamed peas, but instead came with plain frozen peas. The claimed home made tartare sauce was out of a jar. The batter was dark brown and bitter and clearly over cooked to the point of being burnt. The chips were equally over cooked and dry. In our view the chips were frozen not fresh. The chef needs to take a leaf out of the gardeners book and take some pride at what leaves their workplace, as we left hungry and bitterly disappointed. That food should never have left the kitchen in the state it was and is hugely disrespectful to the customer. The service was friendly but slow. We weren't offered an apology nor were we asked how the fish chips were, despite them clearly being picked at and mostly left. The pub wasn't busy with perhaps 4/5 tables occupied by the time we left. This pub can clearly do better judging by the over positive reviews. It manifestly failed for us, on our first visit as locals."
