Friendly pub, great beer (Gower Gold), really good steak, fair price. Recommended. a very enjoyable visit.

A big thank you to the Torbay for a great lunch yesterday. Not easy catering for a party of 19 of us, from babies to oldies!! (Well not that old) Food was delicious, nothing was too much trouble and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves what’s not to like. Highly recommend.

After phoning around the area to discover that most restaurants were not open until wed or thurs through to the weekend. We went to this restaurant and received a very warm welcome. Eve and her mum were exceptional as was the food. Very hot and credit where its due. Thank you.

We found this a very lovely place with a very friendly staff. We had a three coarse dinner for a very reasonable price, which was delicious. Bread with olives, garlic mushrooms, Very good vegetarian lasagna, and beautiful grilled sirloin steak as a main course, apple crumble and vanilla chocolate sponge cake as dessert. I can definitely recommend this place to anyone!

Recently taken over the current management are working hard to give a good service and provide food and drinks after lock down. As visitors to the area we were very happy to support the local economy. I feel very sure some of the niggles will go and this will become a vibrant place in the town. This is a wonderful little pub that dies restaurant quality food with a warm friendly welcome. The service is professional yet homely. The menu is varied but not too cluttered. A wide variety for all tastes. We love going there and will visit frequently. P.s. the Torbay Chicken is amazing. Creamy cheese and leek sauce on a large chicken breast. The burger is incredible.... its a monster but juicy and tasty. Desert is home made and worth staying for. . Sorry we didn't get chance ti take photos of the mains. They were that good we forgot.

Read the reviews and checked the online menu and everything looked Bless! Was in the area so thought why not! Dated but traditional quirky gastro pub kinda vibe from outside and inside. Can 't really knock it, and we just wanted to eat tbh and tbf so I ain 't gonna digress! 1st off, the menu online is NOT the menu when you land (Something about new owners blah blah blah) so having already picked what we wanted beforehand at home, we had to now go through another menu, again..Minor, I know, but it 's a review! Behave!... Anyway we managed to order some dishes we thought would be winners, but nahhhh to be honest they were Not!! No Mash available with a Pie! A Pie! No mash! Like seriously!?

I would guess the high ratings gained by this place dated to before it closed for refurbishment under new management. We planned a family celebration for our daughter-in-law's success in landing a new and very challenging job. It was booked for 7.30pm which was the time we arrived. The menu was unexciting, although not low-priced, and looked as if it had come off a photocopier. The first of our party was served at 9pm and the last at 9.45. The food was bland and two burgers had to be sent back as they were raw in the middle. We felt for the young staff struggling to cope with absolutely no sign of any management direction. The new owners have to do better than this, or they will not survive.

After our appalling experience six months ago, I was reluctant to take the advice that we should give it a second chance, but I 'm glad we did. You walk in and immediately feel welcome. Prompt service with a smile and amazing food made this a first class dining experience. My wife and I shared a samosa and sweet chilli dip starter which was excellent. Now I am a glutton for steak and ale pie, and if it 's on the menu, there 's a better than even chance I 'll order it. For that reason, I would consider myself a connoisseur, and can honestly say this was the best I 've ever had. The puds were also to die for. Well done the new management to turn this place around and put it the top must visit...
