"It was a very wet and windy night when we drove to the swan, from the outside it looked a very nice pub and also once inside it was lovely, plenty of room. We spoke to the Barmaid to check where we could sit and she said anywhere without a reserve on, looked at the menu , you have to go to the bar to order started to order our 4 meals out of the 4 only 2 were available not a problem I asked for those just to be put on a tab whilst I check with the rest of my party what they would like to change to don’t do tabs you have to pay now (we were sat right opposite the bar) so I told her to wait and got the choices our party wanted to change to again 1 was not available got another choice, food ordered and drinks and paid for, Why when we asked for a table could they not say some choices are unavailable turns out they were changing the menu, a group of 3 walked out and a table of 2 had to choice 3 times. Once the food arrived it was ok, we did have a dessert but checked first what they had would I recommend yes but check they have all on the menu first."

I organised a business lunch and we were all very impressed with the whole experience from the service, the food and atmosphere, they happily reserved an indoor and outdoor space. We have already booked our next meeting here.

I have visited this restaurant four times before, and each time the food has been consistently excellent, and the service has been good. On our most recent visit, we were attended to by Jack, a well-presented and polite young man.

We visited this restaurant for lunch and tried their delicious steak sandwich. The staff informed us that it was a new menu item, and we were not disappointed. The steak was cooked perfectly and the cheese sauce added an extra burst of flavor. We were very happy with our experience and will definitely return in the future.

Place is good and clean however, the food took an hour to arrive (was told upon ordering), which was too long. Mostly all tables was waiting for food: Food looks good when it came but gravy was tasteless, beef roast wasn’t tasty and felt like eating cardboard by the texture. I never had ever put salt and pepper on gravy and the whole Sunday roast ever.

Excellent family pub, staff very friendly, they go above and beyond to make sure you are happy! Our favourite place to go as a family, always a warm welcome, lovely landlord and lady. Wonderful food and a great value for money, very dog friendly which is always a bonus! Our children love the food and atmosphere, great size garden. Thankyou for always giving us an excellent time!

"My Wife and I don't travel so well these days but decided to go a little further afield from our usual Highcliffe and Christchurch haunts we live in Mudeford. We went twice in point of fact. The first visit was the 21st June when My wife and I had a quiet Birthday celebration lunch prior to the Family celebration later in the day. It was excellent. We only had the Mains and despite it being busy and not having booked we were served promptly and cheerfully with a round of drinks. My Wife had Chicken Pie and I had Liver and Bacon. Both were excellent and my Wifes vegetables were freshly done. I don't have vegetables. We liked it so much we went back three days later to celebrate our youngest Daughters birthday and again had lunch before the Family celebration later in the day. The meal was as fabulous as three days prior. My Wife had a Chicken Roast, our Daughter had Beef Roast and I had an amazingly well filled Steak and Merlot Pie of the Week. As before the vegetables were freshly done. Unusually for us we also had puddings (Lemon Meringue, Bailey's Cheescake and Apple Tart with Custard. All were excellent. All washed down with Tea and a Latte the former being served in nicely twee Teapots. Total cost £80 for the three of us on the second visit. Worth every penny. All in all First Class and couldn't fault it. Disabled parking nicely located in the front with ample parking for those more mobile at the side and back. Just a note for History buffs. The main building was built in 1853 by John Harrison(? a Carpenter thus the name Carpenters Arms."
