"Can’t fault the location and it’s not the inn’s fault it was raining. Food was a bit underwhelming although the fish and chips was good. It did feel that we were an inconvenience and it’s really unclear that the restaurant and bar are not separate and there was confusion about entering the restaurant as didn’t think we should walk right in and were told off for being in the way. Lovely place but the food needs more work. Serving on fancy slate doesn’t make things taste better. Such a shame as all the reviews made it seem worth the visit. Would hazard a guess that a lovely sunny day makes a difference and you forget the food."

Probably the nicest gastropub I've been to in my life. Peaceful atmosphere, clean seating and tables, nice staff. Food might be a bit pricey but it's worth it.

good pud serves good local beer. good cheap, fast service and friendly staff. many outside seats next to the river, I would think it would be busy on sunny days

We stayed just up the road for a weekend, the Steam Packet Inn ticked all the boxes for food and drink, staff were friendly, the view across the Dart River beautiful lending it's self to the ambience. We will definitely be back

Fabulous spot on the river, a seal even decided to do his fishing right by where we sat. Fabulous meal as always, great portion sizes and friendly staff. The interior is well decorated with that modern twist, a fabulous spot for lunch.

We organised our late father's wake at the Steam Packet and I am so glad we did. The room and view was lovely and the food and service was just excellent. I cannot recommend it enough. Thank you to all the staff for making the occasion go so well.

We stayed overnight and also had a meal. The food was delicious and the portions soooo big. Very good value for money. The room was really lovely too clean, modern decoration, everything you could need. The people staying above us were rather noisy which was the only slight negative and not the fault of the pub. Location was fantastic and Totnes was beautiful. Staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be back and would highly recommend.

Quite disappointed, especially after seeing all the great reviews. The venue is beautiful, along side the river Dart. We waited 20 minutes in the restaurant to be served and then a further 50 minutes for our food to be brought out. It's wasn't busy (maybe 7 other people in the restaurant). Food was very average, service dull and the bill expensive. I don't mind paying, or waiting for excellence, unfortunately, we didn't receive anything close!! I'm guessing they were just having an OFF day......
