"A wonderful place to visit.... Which we did twice. Once midweek for evening meal which was excellent. The second was for Sunday lunch. This proved to be truly amazing. For me as the only vegetarian...... This was without doubt the best vegetarian roast I have ever had. All meals were absolutely fantastic and all three of us couldn't have asked any more for quality, quantity and friendly service. Indeed, we abandoned the rest of our walk and spent the afternoon in the garden overlooking a brilliant view with a bottle of wine before our walk back across the fields to Mount Pleasant Farm Cottages. The new landlord and landlady were charming and have worked very hard to bring life and reputation back to what we gather was a failed previous management. Good luck to them and if what we experienced was their start.... The future of them and the pub is assured. Thank you for such great experiences."

Popped in for lunch as staying local and this place didn’t disappoint. We sat outside as the weather was beautiful. Amazing views from our seats. The food was delicious and all handmade. I had the burger and chips….. all handmade of course and hubby had the pizza. Little one enjoyed her fish fingers and chips. Staff were very friendly and welcoming.

We had a delightful meal at this restaurant, enjoying 5 different homemade dishes, all of which were delicious. The pizza was excellent, and we would highly recommend the burgers. There were also plenty of vegetarian options to choose from. We had a choice of 4 cask ales, including 2 X Black Sheep (which was a very good pint of best bitter), 1 X Theakstons, and TT Landlord. The staff and landlord were very friendly, with the landlord being an old school type who took the time to chat and have a laugh with us. We would definitely recommend this place.

We stopped at this pub on December 21, 2023 on our way to Keswick. The pub serves as a motorhome stopover, but requires prior booking and guests must have self-contained units. We were given a quiet spot in the car park with lovely views during the day. The owners and locals gave us a warm welcome in the pub, which offers a varied menu with options for both vegetarians and meat eaters, as well as a good selection of drinks. The food appeared to be homemade and the pub seemed to be popular with the locals, which is always a good sign. They also host charity fundraisers for local organizations and are dog-friendly for well-behaved dogs. Voir le carte

We arrived at the restaurant with our camper van and asked if we could stay for the night. They had no problem with it as long as we ate and spent some money. It turned out to be the best night ever. The staff, especially the man with a beard working at the bar, were excellent and very professional. The food was delicious, with my husband enjoying the pie and me loving the lasagne. The atmosphere of the restaurant was like that of an old traditional pub and we got to meet some locals. We enjoyed the entertainment and everything about this special pub and village. We want to commend Mark and Lyndsey for taking on the challenge in such difficult times. We hope to visit again if there is space...

Stayed overnight at short notice, wanted somewhere in the Richmond area and so glad we found this place. On pulling into the spacious car park we were taken aback by the stunning view and the lovely little village setting. It’s a pub with rooms but the facilities and provisions are excellent. The hosts Mark and Lyndsey have been here since November 2022 and are professional but witty and talented at what they do. Mark runs the bar and Lyndsey the kitchen and rooms. The food was fantastic, and piping hot, we had dinner as well as the complimentary quality breakfast. Four hand pulled ales available as well as lagers and cider, Guinness etc. The rooms are spotlessly clean and have everything yo...

"We had booked with booking.com . On arrival we were told that we didn't get breakfast included and that it would be £15 a head. We accepted this although thought was pretty steep for breakfast in a pub.The first morning we were given a menu clearly stating that breakfasts were included with all accommodation. I ordered poached eggs with smoked salmon and the other two ordered a full English breakfast which included homemade black pudding. The breakfasts arrived ,one of my poached eggs was runny, the other hard. The English breakfasts had no black pudding on the plates and when queried we were told that the deliveries hadn't arrived. Doesn't homemade imply made on or near the premises and as the owner states he is a butcher by trade I would expect he had made the black pudding. No alternatives were offered and presentation was distinctly lacking , with the baked beans poured over the other items. The next day I risked the full breakfast with black pudding which was lovely. But again the others had badly cooked poached eggs. We were offered no fruit juice, cereal or even toast and marmalade. On leaving we discovered the pub was unmanned , despite poor mobile signal. The owner turned up after 15 minutes. The bill was handed over, charging us for seven breakfasts when we had six, it was adjusted after he asked if one of us had had two breakfast one day? He served and cooked them so should know the answer to that. We were also then overcharged for nine coffee when three coffees and two teas had been ordered. Having had a family B and small hotel in York I advised him that standards were not what I was used to. I spoke to someone who had also visited recently and she stated a member of staff had charged them £15 per head for their similar breakfast where we were charged the menu price. Exceptionally poor menu, inaccurate advise saying breakfast included then charging us and probably the worst breakfast I have eaten in similar accommodation."
