"of the person answering phone serving. This is definitely not a true Italian but then again they do mention Mediterranean in their cuisine. If u want a pizza or pasta, its hard for it to go wrong but If u want lamb cutlets, be prepared for rubbery pieces of stewed lamb et al swimming in a thick sauce/soup despite being on the menu, nobody in the kitchen or front of house knew what a lamb cutlet looked like, not to mention the anaemic steamed or microwaved sword fish. Only positive was the barolo wine. God help anyone with dietary restrictions/preferences/allergies or anyone who is used to good quality food paying £7 for veg £6 for potato are extortionate extras. No Wonder all the authentic Italian family restaurants are few far between."

"It was my first eating out with my family of 6 and couldn't get any bookings but managed to get in to the Kathmandu restaurant and what a delight it was too. Food was great the hospitality great and super friendly really approachable and interactive with my children being their first time tasting the cuisine. Definitely going back and will recommend."

"The food was excellent, but the service was lacking. We had to wait over 30 minutes for our food, only receiving it after we asked about it. As we were still enjoying our coffee, we were abruptly told that our table was needed and asked to leave, even though we had only been there for an hour and a half. The slow service was not our fault, yet we felt rushed out. The manager was not sympathetic at all. We will not be returning, as we left feeling unwelcome. The vegetarian options were good, particularly the nut roast."

"On the positive side, the food was excellent; both the taste and portion sizes were great. We ended up ordering too much and had to take some home. My favorite dish was the green curry, while my wife loved the Massaman curry. Everything looked appealing as well. Our waitress, Ele, was attentive to our dietary needs regarding vegan options. She provided us with the allergen menu and, despite it listing crustaceans and eggs, she prepared the vegan curries from scratch without those ingredients, as well as the pineapple meat without eggs. However, we did experience a bit of a wait at the end for the bill, as the layout of the restaurant made it difficult for Ele to see us unless she was in our section. It was also quite busy, which wasn't the most relaxing environment for my father. While we understand that Saturday nights can be hectic, this did impact our overall experience. We were surprised to see that the bill included a service fee, as we initially thought it was a gratuity. We've since learned that it was a tax. Next time we visit, we'll make sure to leave a tip for Ele. Overall, we had a very good experience and would definitely return. I would highly recommend this restaurant!"

"Four of us dined at The Exchequer today, August 8th, 2023, and we were quite disappointed. Two of us ordered the risotto, which was very salty and nearly inedible for those who don't consume salt. The fish and chips were acceptable, as was the Thai curry. However, the desserts were a major letdown. The chocolate mousse with salted caramel ice cream was essentially just a bowl of ice cream topped with a thin strand of chocolatey sauce from a plastic bottle. If there was any banoffee sauce, it was nearly impossible to detect. There were only a few crumbs of honeycomb and a tiny sprinkle of raspberry, all priced at a steep £9.50. We ordered one starter, four main courses, and two desserts, along with a pint of beer and four non-alcoholic drinks, totaling over £120. It felt quite expensive for what we received. Although we didn’t want to create a fuss in front of our guests, we won’t be rushing back anytime soon."
