Arrived in Gurnard in the afternoon so decided to walk to this pub for something to eat. Did not book a table which was our fault but they found room for us, staff were really lovely and the fish and chips were brilliant. All really good and can highly recommend. Voir le carte

We had an excellent visit to The Portland Inn, everyone was friendly and the food was fresh and tasty and priced very reasonably. We were served by Alice and she was very attentive and pleasant. My advice would be just go and I am sure that you won’t be disappointed.

We had Christmas lunch here yesterday and it was absolutely lovely. The food was beautifully presented, delicious and nice and hot. Really nice wine too! The staff were attentive but not intrusive and didn't rush us at all. I would definitely recommend a meal out here. I'm certainly going to book for Christmas next year. Voir le carte

Very disappointed with the meal tonight. I ordered the steak and stilton pie which was small, tasteless and overcooked. Genuinely looked like something you’d buy in a budget super market despite being promoted on the Specials board. Won’t be going back, which is a shame as I like to support the local pubs and restaurants in my area.

I have visited the Portland many times, and their standard menu is fantastic and beautifully home cooked but make sure you always check out their specials! They had a beef medallions special recently where the beef was tender, cooked perfectly and delicately in a Port and Stilton sauce, served with delicious vegetables including a sweet red cabbage. It might not always be on the menu, but I advise everyone to make sure you check out the specials board, just in case!

I am 58 years old and I have estimated that in that time I have had thousands of roast beef dinners, The Portland's roast beef is the best I have ever had, perfectly medium rare, perfect veg and a great selection of real ales. Now we have all been to a pub and had a nice meal then gone back a few months or a year later, the management or chef has changed and the quality has gone downhill, not here I have been going for the last 7 years and every time it's amazing, I think they have chained their chef to the cooker because it's the same one!
