The Overcliff Pub - Carte

beautiful little restaurant, I visited here a few weeks back and had a really impressive burger, I was not as much as I used to, but next time I am back in!

Booked a table for 19th December, phoned to confirm on the night. Informed the pub was closed that night. No apology, no reason given didnt seem to care less!!! Terrible customer service.

We stayed in the hotel so had dinner here. The menu was simple and nice (find on their website) the food was good compared to some hotels! If your staying at the hotel then this is a good place to eat if you don’t want...to go into town.

we came to this beautiful pub to enjoy a nice piece dug, but was greeted by badly boiled of chips and soggy cheese. I thought it would be better through the main course, I mean, who could go wrong a moment. it came, well represented. but when I began to eat it, the insert was tasteless and felt as if I were chewing on a car tire, the chips tasted raw and undercooked. even the salate was dry and bitter. bad bad bad. thank you, this place was posted on grouping for little to nothing money when I booked a taxi and went without saying a word. that's all! terrible food!

I decided to take advantage of eat out to help out' scheme here. Whilst the bar manager was courteous and professional I had to wait almost 40 minutes for the seafood platter (their most expensive item at £15+. On arrival I can only describe the...items on plate as of poor frozen variety deep fried, and slice of fish portion as just greasy batter-I should have just returned but had waited so long. Seafood; fresh or quality frozen is not always going to be great in a hotel pub but this was lazy poor quality that a short order cook could have improved on with reasonable ingredients. after a reservation at the reception on the day before, they had no recording of us in the pub that was embarrassing, but we sat in the bright and comfortable winter garden. then we struggled to use our voucher (on the Suncliffe website) because the staff did not. on the inclusion. during the meal, we asked several workers for several items during our visit in the pub (extra side plate, soy sauce etc.) unfortunately, it seems a language barrier and never returned. but jordan has saved our experience. great customer service and professionalism. the personal should be trained by him. As much as the location is beautiful, unfortunately the serving staff in the pub are not. Initially there was no parking available and when speaking with staff it was a first come first serve on parking which meant we had to pay. There was issues...with the seating at the beginning when turning up. In relation to the food it was okay...for pub food however, this could be a lot nicer. As for the table service, this was lacking hugely, the waitress payed no interest in us when servicing food. She did not even speak when we had said Thankyou for the food. As someone else has mentioned we went with a groupon.... Location.. This pub is situated within a hotel on the westcliff in Bournemouth. The hotel (suncliff) is part of a chain of 3 hotels all next door to each other. Walking distance to Lansdowne and...plenty of paid car parking about. The pub... The pub itself is not like the rest of the hotel. They have tried to give it a rustic type feel which I believe they have done. When you walk in the bar is on the right with a pool table to the left. seating in straight ahead. The pub overlooks the coast. Drinks.... Basic selection but very expensive.
