"We had passed the restruant many times but never entered. As a venue it has little to recommend it a mismatch of decor, seeting and service. Seemingly local trade also eyes it with some suspicion as we were the only patrons. I did like the cloth napkins though! We shared a starter of Finocchia which we had never had. I'm not sure that what appeared was authentic. Does Finocchi come on a plate with nothing to accompany it? Their interpretation of Finocchia is a plate of thinly sliced, day old greasy salami. The main course. I had Braised Pork a gelatenous blob of fatty brown gloop with fried polenta, eadible but not a happy marriage of tastes. My partner had smoked Haddock with spinage again an odd mix. The sweet course was the most strange. Tinned Rhubarb when rubarb is in season! a spoonful of creme fresh and a thin slice of slightly gingery cake possibly the only thing not purchaed from the nearby Co op. And all this for the princely sum of £70+ Needless to say we will not be returning."

"What a great welcoming traditional village pub. We were lucky enough to be staying in Beaminster and wondered into this pub as it looked busy and had a sign saying “Dogs Welcome”. Well it’s not just the dogs that were welcomed, we all were!!! Lovely chatty staff and regulars. A lovely couple even bought our dogs a pup cake each. We felt so welcomed we went back for a drink another night and a meal and drinks another. The food was great quality, a great choice (even for me as a Coeliac) and very reasonably priced. Should we visit the area again we will definitely pop in and recommend others do too."

"We went to Sunday lunch 3 adults and 2 children we had all different types of frying (lamb chicken, beef and nuts) and all were very tasty and very generous portions, especially regarding the meat that were all very good quality. Our children had half the size shares they liked, our oldest very rarely ends a Sunday roast, but it was nice and ate the lot! The staff was very friendly and accommodating and could adapt to us at short notice. I would recommend this pub for a family lunch."

"This afternoon we went from our campsite in Bingham Grange, Bridport to Hare Hounds Pub. It was a beautiful sunny day and a beautiful walk. We received a very warm welcome from Bob the landlord, and his good lady Jenny worked hard in the kitchen. We recommend the homemade freshly cooked pasties, absolutely delicious Both Bob and Jenny work very hard to go this beautiful pub, so please, come with and support their business. Great people, pub, food drinks....and don't forget to mention the stunning views of the beer garden. We will return. Thanks Bob Jenny to the Hare Hounds."

"Wow! What a transformation! This is now a clean, friendly, spacious, community owned and run pub, albeit still a Palmers tied house. It has been completely but sympathetically refurbished and redecorated with more room created for customers by reducing the size of the bar and changing its shape. A doorway has also been closed off so access to the toilets is no longer via walking through the dining area. The beers seem to be well kept, so they should be able to regain a previous 'Cask Marque ' award achieved several years ago. The kitchen is currently being updated and full refurbished, so no food at the moment. I just hope that the food, when they start doing it, is good quality, honest, pub food and not the grey, tough, tasteless, and tepid offering that the previous landlord served."
