"This was my first visit to Brassica Restaurant and after all the recommendations that I had heard I did expect something special. The service was attentive and cannot be faulted. We had dietary restrictions in our party, a Coeliac and a Vegan. The menu choice was interesting but limited. The reality when the food was brought was a disappointment, whilst it was nicely presented it did little to justify the high prices that are charged for the main dishes. Describing a dish as 'Organic Pork Shoulder ' is misleading... This would be better described as 'Thin slices of Organic Shoulder served cold with with tonnato and cornichions. ' Whilst the Steak Eaters were well served with a very nice Organic Angus Steak and The Vegan was served with a Violet Aubergine Caponata, though good, the general feeling was 'Underwhelmed '. The Vegetable sides at £10 per shot were quite literally a small side plate with a pauper 's portion, not sufficient to 'share ' at the table. If you have deep pockets and are prepared to accept pretty standard but adequate fare then this may be the place for you. Perhaps a rethink on side vegetables and menu is in order."

"The highlight of our trip, this is a proper English pub with an eccentric and highly likable landlord who had a great sense of humour and excellent hospitality skills. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived, the food menu was varied and I can honestly say I think anything on offer would have been tasty. As it was I had the chicken and ham pie and my Wife the vegetarian curry pie which was followed up by a first rate Bread and Butter pudding with homemade custard. Everything was clearly homemade and made with passion, the waitress was very attentive and overall we look forward to returning in the future, maybe a couple of pints in the excellent garden with another tasty meal? Five stars for the Hare and Hounds and long may they prosper."

"We have been lucky to have been able to visit Beaminster at least once a year for past 6 years. When here, our favourite watering hole is The Greyhound. Food is homemade...good and substantial and we believe kitchen uses local ingredients when possible. I 'm a lager drinker and this is served well...and understand beer drinkers enjoy the choice of ales. Landlord and staff are attentive providing good service in a simple, rustic country pub. No intrusive music or TV... simply old fashioned conversation. Dogs are made welcome, as are tourists...it is well worth a visit."

"We went for Sunday lunch today 3 adults and 2 children we all had different types of roast (lamb chicken, beef and nut) and all were very tasty and very generous portions, particularly in terms of the meats, which were all very good quality. Our children had the half size portions which they liked, our eldest very rarely finishes a Sunday roast but said it was lovely and ate the lot! The staff were very friendly and accommodating and were able to fit us in at short notice. I would highly recommend this pub for a family lunch/Sunday roast."

"Unfortunately for our group of 7 with a pre booked table, we booked due to reviewing the menu online. The experience was not as we had hoped due to the following: No table service until food was ordered at the bar, food was not as described as online (which we found out from the Manager was outdated even though he confirmed it had it bought to his attention previously) Missing items such as cauliflower cheese, red cabbage and no Turkey which was taken off in Jan and the website not updated. We ended up adding additional potatoes and cauliflower cheese to our table, some of which came once we had finished eating. Hair was found in 3 dishes and one of our group could not continue eating. What I will say is the food we did eat was good quality and the waitress lovely. She did however looked to be run off her feet and we were informed it was her second week. The Manager approached after a request from us who arrived with a beer in hand. He did listen to our concerns and kindly offered 50% off but unfortunately overall it wasn’t the best experience"
