"I stayed in a room that exceeded my expectations, complete with en-suite facilities. I wholeheartedly recommend a visit to the Dovecote Inn Laxton. Update: On Monday, June 6, 2022, I stayed at The Dovecote Inn after visiting the National Holocaust Museum and Centre on June 5, 2022. It’s only a short 5-minute drive from the museum to the inn, which offers plenty of convenient parking and complimentary WiFi. I stayed in the Sherwood Suite, and it was outstanding, featuring top-notch amenities. I also enjoyed drinks at the pub itself. The owner, Sam Harrison, kindly upgraded me from room 2, the Robin Hood room, to the Sherwood Suite, which I truly appreciated. I have previously stayed in the Robin Hood room, which is also well-appointed and offers en-suite facilities. The staff at the Dovecote Inn are always friendly and eager to help, and Sam is particularly approachable. I highly recommend visiting the Dovecote Inn Laxton."

"Called in for an early evening meal. Staff are welcoming and polite. The place has a nice warm feeling which I'm certain would be even warmer at a busier time. The menu is a little light on choice but it's clear they don't want to prep for loads of dishes. We had the gammon and duck egg, the burger and a child's sausage and mash. The service was fast but the food is clearly freshly cooked to order with a side of fab onion rings and a bowl of fresh crunchy veg! One thing that I will mention is that the seasoning is quite high/heavy but it was delicious! You might wish to ask for less if you don't enjoy plenty. Altogether a lovely place, nice beer and tasty food. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3"

"I’ve just realised I’ve been visiting The Beck for over 20 years now for both drinks and meals with friends and family and I’ve never written a review! The Beck for me is home from home and I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve visited. They say a business is only as good as it’s staff, and maybe this is why The Beck has lasted so long with a reputation for a relaxed atmosphere good food and good service. The staff here are friendly, caring and professional, I’ve never been anywhere where I felt so at home as The Beck. Edward, Julie, Theresa, Kieran and not forgetting Trish in the kitchen make the place what it is! In 20 years I’ve never had a bad meal here, the food is excellent, and today did not disappoint. I was treating my parents and wife to a belated Mother’s Day and Dad’s birthday meal out, I had the lamb roast which was sublime and my dad had the blade of beef which in his words was “melt in your mouth” good! My Wife had a chilli and my Mum had the flat bread, which were also very nice and portions are plentiful. My daughter has Dairy and Soya allergies and wanted sausages and mash however the mash had butter in it so they made it with chips instead, she also cleared her plate! If you want to go somewhere with a nice warm friendly atmosphere and excellent food at very reasonable prices then The Beck is definitely worth a visit."

"We booked for us to stay on September. We had booked a number of weeks in advance.  There was significant noise outside the room which impinged on a restful night. I think my wife said someone called to say the festival was on but that...was days before our stay and the likelihood of alternative accomodation was low. The second issue was breakfast. We booked for knowing it was checkout. Our order was taken and my wifes breakfast arrived. Mine did not and I had to ask where it was. I was told it was given to someone else and therefore had to be remade. My wife had finished her food and I waited. She went back as we knew it was a checkout and we wanted to try and meet this. As my breakfast didnt arrive until minutes after I arrived) I got back to the room and a cleaner just walked in and started cleaning whilst I was still removing my items. He did not even say anything and ignored me as I tried to access my items This was far from ideal given the delay was not my fault. I was rushed and had no time to even use the bathroom to freshen up.  I messaged the venue and was ignored with my issues."

"I visited with my family for the Easter Carvery. The atmosphere is lovely, staff are friendly and helpful, and the food is delicious and homemade. This wasn't my first visit, but it was my first visit since becoming vegan last year. The Easter event was bookings only so I let them know I was vegan when we booked, which they said was no problem at all. I was given a special menu when we arrived which included mushroom soup and bread for starter; a homemade butternut squash pie with spinach and soya cream cheese for main; and a blueberry and blackberry pie or a fruit salad for dessert. All of which were delicious! They also had soya milk for teas and coffees. The staff were really helpful and informative without me having to ask. I was told that the carvery veg was all cooked in olive oil (not butter , the only things I wasn't able to have were the Yorkshire puddings and cauliflower cheese. They had also prepared a jug of vegan gravy especially for me. Nothing was a problem for them and it was a really lovely meal. Thank you! :"
