"Whilst staying locally over the August Bank Holiday weekend, we happened to find the Old Chequers Inn on our way back to the holiday park from a day out with the family in Skegness. We were looking for somewhere to eat after a full and...tiring day, Signposted off the A52 we chanced the slight deviation from the main road, and are ever glad that we did! Welcoming staff advised us that tables were available and that they were mid food service. We ordered Rib Eye Steaks, Pie of the day, Chilli Con Carne for the adults and pasta and chicken nuggets for the kids. The food arrived promptly and the portions were very generous, even accommodating a chips for jacket substitution on one of the Steaks. Well, the food was delicious, cooked to perfection and great value for money, so much so, that we chanced an opportunity to book for a Sunday roast for us all the very next day. We were told that although the pub only usually served until 3pm, but they would likely still be taking orders until 4pm, and that they could fit us in, we were overjoyed at the lengths that the team here went to accommodate us and would like to thank them all for making our visits thoroughly enjoyable! If you are ever out this way and travelling back from Skegness down the A52 towards Boston, look out for the brown signposts to this place. You will not regret it! If I could rate more than 5, I most certainly would!"

The pub serves delicious, straightforward food. The staff are friendly and the menu offers a wide selection of options. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. We both enjoyed our meals from the specials menu.

I made a reservation an hour before we got there. We received a warm welcome and excellent service. I ordered liver with mashed potatoes, and the mashed potatoes were amazing! The meal was good value and the dessert was delicious. I would definitely recommend this place.

Booked ahead for Sunday lunch whilst staying in Skegness. Had a small portion pork roast. I chose just roast potatoes but you could also have new potatoes and mash. Beautiful gravy and huge Yorkshire pud (didn't fit on my plate). Seating outside both front and...back and also saw people coming for takeout.

Staying up near skegness for a few days and discovered this little gem. Oldest inn in Lincolnshire. Went for Sunday roast..spot on and good choice of meats also a good range of desserts. Wife had Turkey and I had Pork...nice big thick slices and thick...gravy. Dessert...not had ginger sponge for years....awesome....wife had Eton mess which was massive. Great service throughout...Remember this is a normal country pub...not the Ritz. We enjoyed our visit.

I went to this restaurant for dinner on a Tuesday evening. The beer selection was great. I tried the Liver and Onions, Bacon and Sausage with Mash special and the plate was overflowing with delicious food. It was so good that I returned on Friday night to try the Dirty Burger, which was a towering burger with bacon, pulled pork, smoked cheddar, and a large homemade onion ring. The burger was perfectly cooked, not dry or brown in the middle like some burgers. I also tried different beers, and was pleased to find Batemans beers available for purchase in bulk. I left with a couple of crates and will definitely be returning next year.

we stopped at this place, en route, in our home. we always ring in advance as we have a dog to make sure that the local dogs are friendly we were told that dogs could go to the half of the pub, but not the other we were. also electric hook-up at £10 for the night offered at the arrival we entered the pub and one voice called us: “You can’t bring your dog in here. we turned around to a very insulting lady who said she had not allowed dogs for 2 years!. when we said we would have refused to believe ourselves in advance when we had a drink before we went to our food, we could not drive away, so we had to order food to eat in the home, and when it was collected, she charged us £15 for the electr...

we were a few miles away and decided to eat here. the location and environment at the front were beautiful. the pub was quite busy, but there were some tables available. I asked if we could have a chances table, 4. covers and a little friendly dog. a dame behind the bar said that there is a table and no dogs are allowed. we decided to park our car in front of the window where our table was so that we could keep our dog in the eye while we ate. it was cloudy and the temperature outside was cool. our dog was quickly asleep after a long day of going. we ordered our food and waited. some of the employees seemed unfriendly, we felt like we were an inconvenience for them. we saw that a worker had...

"I've been in Horncastle on business twice once on a Monday, once on a Tuesday and both times found the town mostly closed for business in the evenings. This time, just as I was on the point of deciding people in Lincolnshire must have a tradition of fasting on a Tuesday evening, I came across The Bull. This attractive old coaching hotel looked inviting, and the staff offered me a friendly welcome. The warmly lit, high ceilinged interior of this Georgian inn was full of diners (Yes on a Tuesday! Take note, other restauranteurs of Horncastle) and the ambiance was convivial. The selection of beers behind the bar was good and the two pints I drank were tasty and well kept. I was presented with two bar menus, a separate burger menu and shown a fish menu and a steak menu on the wall. (I understand tapas is also available at weekends). Quite a choice! The bar menus largely consisted of what you might call traditional pub grub of the best kind. Within that massive choice, there must have been at least half a dozen dishes I was really tempted by but, eventually, I plumped for the cauliflower soup followed by the pork belly, mash, peas and apple gravy. Both courses were outstanding and extremely generous in size, especially the pork belly. My only disappointment was that I hadn't room in my distended belly to squeeze in a spotted dick for pudding! My bill, for such a large and excellent meal, was very modest. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner at The Bull and would definitely eat and/or drink there again."
