"Every time we visit Horncastle, we always end up at this restaurant. However, the quality of the food and service has become so inconsistent that it's time to try out other dining options. During our most recent visit, we arrived half an hour before closing time and ordered poached eggs on toast. It was not a good sign when the waitress audibly sighed upon taking our order. The eggs were served in a lackluster manner, floating in a pool of vinegar water with runny yolks, accompanied by soggy, cheap Sunblest white bread on the side. The rushed service continued as the waitress, noticing my wife browsing the gifts upstairs, inquired about her whereabouts before checking the time on her watch. While the chef has always been reserved, the food and service used to make up for it. Unfortunately, it now only qualifies as 'good in parts'."

We came across this cafe by chance. We stopped for lunch. The food was very good. And the tea and coffee. The decor was a bit dated and tired but everything else made up for it. The service was very good.

Service was very friendly but the food was terrible, mushroom soup was like water,no taste, tuna sandwich was more mayo than tuna and the cake was dry . My friend wasn't impressed with her meal either and heard another couple complaining about there meal , sorry but won't be returning.

Me and my sister visited, had cream teas, very reasonably priced, sat right next to the river, watched the fish swimming by, loved the mix matched China, and different coloured teapots, the menu was brilliant, we even got served little sweets on the side of our saucer loved this place we will return

We fell over this great little find whilst mooching around Horncastle. The service was excellent (lovely lass with a dark pony tail couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly), the food was delicious (I had the Lincolnshire high tea and a salmon and cream cheese sandwich and my wife had the afternoon tea) both were extremely tasty and an absolute bargain. Visited here for lunch, and we were not disappointed! I and 2 others in my group had jacket potatoes, which were oven baked, and so light and fluffy inside. Served with a small salad and coleslaw, a well as the chosen filling, it was delicious. Drinks were also lovely. One of us had coffee and said it was rich and smooth, served in an individual cafetiere. Coke was served with cola bottle sweets, which was a lovely touch. So, 3 cokes, 2 cherry cokes, a coffee, 3 ciabattas, and 3 jacket potatoes came to £58 and worth every penny.

Today we decided to have lunch at The Bridge. When we arrived and tried to get a table, a young girl told us there were no tables inside and we could only sit outside. It was a chilly and cloudy day, so we suggested having a coffee and waiting for a table. However, she insisted that a table wouldn't become available. Disappointed, we left and found Tanya's Cafe nearby. Although all the tables were taken, the staff warmly welcomed us and allowed us to wait inside for a table to free up. We were grateful for their hospitality and glad we decided to stay.

Visited many times before, but not for a while. Very very cramped if you like playing sardines your fine. Food was nice no complaints there . Young waitress very polite. Tables are absolutely squashed together. If I was infirm or of a large stature I would have struggled to get in the space. Once crammed In coats were touching the damp walls. Obviously its a very old building but sitting in a damp corner with black mould and peeling crystallised paint on the floor made the visit not so good. Skirting boards filthy covered in peeling mould. Once the table next to us left we were able to make a bit of space to be less squashed. We were the lucky ones those over by the dresser were even more cr... Voir le carte

Would definitely NOT recommend this cafe. It could be really nice with a change of ownership and complete make over. I have visited a few times in the past and to be honest not been totally happy, but I believe in giving places/people more than one chance. However, I will definitely not be visiting this cafe every again. I was shown to a very small table rammed into a corner so I was facing a wall. I requested simple poached eggs on white toast and could I have the eggs cooked hard i.e. no runny yolk. I actually repeated it twice to the waitress who said that 's ok. Well, when they arrived not only was the yolk liquid but even the white wasn 't cooked i.e. slime on my plate. I pointed this o...

Unfortunately, we were disappointed with our experience at this restaurant. We had to settle for this place as other cafes in town were full. The building is old and showing signs of damp, with peeling walls and mouldy windows. The two hot drinks we ordered were nice, but the snack items were disappointing. The £3 toasted tea cake was not enjoyable, even when toasted and buttered, as it was dry and stale. The homemade cheese scone, priced at £2.xx, had been microwaved for too long, resulting in a soggy texture. Additionally, it was served with a cherry tomato that had burst and leaked juice onto the scone – not appetizing. When we raised our concerns about the quality and freshness of the fo...

"Booked stayed at this place very recently having read the excellent reviews. As a very level headed person, certainly not delusional I failed in trying to recognise or match the place based on any of the reviews posted on Booking.com The place, whilst very quaint appealing from the outside is in direct contrast to the inside! In reality, it 's very much in dire need of deep cleaning, redecorating and refurbishing. The food, not sure who prepared the meals in the reviews I read, but fail to see how it could be the same chef as the one that cooked ours! Our meals arrived no less than 40 minutes after ordering. The drinks to occupy us while we waited never did arrive when our meals finally arrived served (if slapping on the table warrants being called served three out of the five items that made up the meal were uncooked, cold unedible! The excuse given by the waitress, is far too busy and understaffed, yet despite not being able to fulfil the job paid for, they still take fee paying guests who are treated far less than second class citizens to the regular clientele supping at the bar! Far too busy but not enough to stop them from taking longer than necessary to laugh talking to the regulars! Needless to say, we ate at other places for the rest of our stay. DO NOT BE FOOLED, as we were by the reviews, which have stayed are extremely questionable indeed! If one is used to using hostels I can see this could be deemed as good, if not excellent accommodation. On the flip side, if one is used to hotels that are clean customer focused then this hotel (a grand name for nothing more than a public house with accommodation not a very good or pleasant one at that is not the one for you!!"
