"The Magnum is quite honestly a loving little place for a meal. On the outside, it looks like your general bog standard pub but inside it has a lovely feel inside. Lots of fairy lights, chandeliers and mood lighting, it's the perfect place to go for a date night. The service was very friendly from the moment we walked through the doors. Straight away offering to take our coats before showing us to our seats and taking our drinks order. Very prompt and efficient but still friendly and welcoming. The food itself was pretty wonderful. I ended up switching my starer with my partner, as we both found we preferred each other's choice. So I started off with the haggis, I ended up loving the arbroath smokie pate. Was really fresh and light. Perfect starter to be honest. For our mains, I had the chicken burger because you can't beat a classic burger can you, and my partner had scottish rib eye steak which looked pretty wonderful. Now.... the desserts. Yes the starters and main course were lovely but The Magnum are winner when it comes to desserts. I went for the the chocolate fudge cake which, even though this was a few months back... I am still pining after it. It was just wonderful! I would love to go back again soon. Even if it's just for a quick drink as I really liked the cosy feel about The Magnum!"

a bit from the busy road, but a short walk from the north bridge. the menu was a great exchanging experience, uttering and moaning to start with two glass prosecco rose best. service discreet, but present and react. good atmosphere for the occasion.

GIVEN THE DISTINCT lack of summer we’ve been having, I think this sunny(ish) day has to go down as one of the better ones, as we laud the happy drinkers outside The Magnum on Albany Street. Sarah and I had enjoyed a visit to this gastropub last year, meaning there would be added scrutiny this time around. Voir le carte

foodie explorers glassgow foodie reviews of glassgow restaurants and eating food blog travel blog. our intrepid reviewer caz dared together with the magnum. How would it be worth it? it was a gray drizzly night when I dived into the magnum for dinner. the warm and cozy atmosphere was a welcome charm from the cold and wet.

Spring has arrived in Edinburgh and we spent every moment of the Easter weekend soaking it up. Our spot of choice – The Magnum on Albany Street. The few tables available on the street outside are an amazing sun-trap, and we were lucky to snap one up for lunch. The Magnum is a great little New Town pub and the menu is slightly fancier than you might expect from a such a relaxed venue. It’s also great value for money with 3 courses coming in at £14.95 – lunch or dinner.

our food was delicious. from the festive menu, the goat cheese starter presentation was fantastic the taste amazing. for net, truthahnsprossen, chorizo and kartoffeln and the other main is the meeresbass with root was just as good. large selection of wein and around, especially the santa teresa. the staff was friendly and courteous that we could get a table quite late in the evening. because of the time we arrived, we ate at a table in the bar area. Unfortunately, we believe that ambiente lacked that lighting was too bright and it was not relaxing. our experience with the personal felt somewhat confused, maybe also because we are not sitting in the restaurant area. the streets always seem calm when you saust from the queen street in direction albany street; calm but with a degree of intrigue. after a small renovation, the magnum started a new menu this week and after two excellent visit before this that intrigue was now fully concentrated on eating. my opening act was a rather tempting carpaccio of spicy duck with pickled fennel, cauliflower cousin and crispy duck skin £6.95) the sweet of slightly smoked meat was balanced by the delicate acid from the fennel, with the cauliflower wore a earthy note. the crispy skin scissors were inspired and mixed with a certain degree of spice, while the points of balsamic reduction wore another well-tuned taste layer...

We booked here for a team Christmas lunch. A couple of us had been meaning to try The Magnum for ages, so were looking forward to visiting. The Magnum is a nice venue and seemed bigger on the inside than it appeared on outside and is serenely decorated. We were all struggling to pick what to have from the menu as much of it sounded yummy. In the end as we had all eyed up the baked Camembert to share, we got two of those between the four of us. Then I went for the sausage of the day, which was lamb and thyme, another colleague went for tempura battered haddock and the other two went for the beef and rosemary burger. One of my colleagues had dithered on whether to get the burger as she was wor...
