"Walked in... Got told not to sit at any of the tables that we wanted to.... Atmosphere was dead. Felt most unwelcome. My friend had lost something and had asked the lady behind the bar to search for it in case she had put it in the bin... my friend and I were snapped at and we waited and waited for her to look for us. Then when my friend had to look for her expensive item, she was told not to look in that specific place. Drinks were poured with a half smile... So, we just decided to go elsewhere after finishing our drinks. The Crown on the high street has a better atmosphere, hands down! The staff at the crown are friendlier and more accommodating. My advice? Just go up the road to The Crown. No competition I'm afraid."

The dining experience was exceptional, although on the pricey side, the menu offers something for everyone. The pub is visually stunning, and I particularly enjoyed the 60s music and Motown vibes.

Eating at this pub offers a delightful experience of enjoying delicious British cuisine in a charming atmosphere. The historic building has been beautifully renovated and now includes a piano for entertainment. The only thing you could possibly want is friendly and competent staff.

Went on a Thursday and asked if they would cook me a Tika curry and they obliged. Always had good service and food each time I have been. Would like to see more guest ales. I recently visited this establishment using the Brit Stops deal and had a fantastic experience. The staff were exceptionally friendly and competent, and the food was delicious, especially the Caribbean Curry we tried. The locals were also very enjoyable to converse with. I plan on returning to this welcoming pub again in the future, as they also have a promising event calendar. Overall, this is a well-managed pub that I highly recommend supporting. Distinctly average, soggy bun no one likes a soggy bun. On further reflection I should probably add some more detail. My chicken burger was tough and greasy obviously previously frozen and certainly not fresh, the bun well... The absolute no no is a soggy bottom and quite frankly for the price I'd have been better off in weatherspoons. The partners food was OK but at £15 a main course I expect better than OK. For the cost of the meal we could do our shopping for a week and then I've only got my self to critic

"We usually love coming to Cafe Rouge in Henley, always a treat for us and we are always looking forward to it. However the most recent visit was awful and it’s been going downhill over our last coupes of visits. We booked a table for my father in laws birthday. Upon being seated, we were informed that 3 of the main course dishes were unavailable.. pretty much half of the ‘mains’ options. We don’t come to Cafe Rouge for Burgers or salad! We opted for 3 portions of Mussels as had them here before and they’re very good! Mother in law just had pate as there was nothing else she wanted. These were possibly the worst mussels we’ve ever had. You could tell they weren’t fresh (cooked from frozen for sure) and there was barely any sauce in the pot! Usually they are flavourful and abundant in sauce! No check back was performed by the manager on duty..it was a quiet Monday so wasn’t exactly run off his feet. So we couldn’t alert him. Even upon clearing we weren’t ask how our meal was! Just asked if we had finished. We decided to mention they were awful to which the manager told us he would inform the kitchen. When he came back to finish clearing, my partner asked if they were frozen or fresh mussels, to which the manager replied yes, they are frozen. Wasn’t expecting that but you could totally tell! They tasted like cardboard! We had a coffee and a pudding and to be fair to the manager he didn’t charge us for one portion of mussels and the coffees we ordered. The Bill was certainly not worth what we had. Didn’t leave a tip, which we never normally do, but the service was non existent. Manager was more interested in what was on his phone. Won’t be rushing back"
