"Went for a Sunday lunch, if I could give 6 stars I would. Everything was perfect, the setting, the atmosphere, the service, the wine and of course the food. There was a warm welcome when we arrived where we were led into a cozy restaurant with a very relaxed atmosphere. Our server was extremely friendly and a delight. I had the chicken thigh with a peanut butter sauce to start and I can confidently say it was one of the best starters I have ever had. Perfectly cooked and all the flavours just worked together. Main, I had the beef which was extremely tender and flavourful and the gravy was to die for. The greens were delicious and the roast potatoes incredible. Thank you for a lovely afternoon!"

visited the humble onion with family to celebrate my birthday and it was as good as we all hoped and better! the owner was a fantastic host with much better sweating than I heard before in the wobble! everything was perfect and we have...more of the new wine list than we remember the next morning, which is always a great sign! Many thanks for an unforgettable birthday meal and a happy Christmas for everyone! Voir le carte

Wow! This place was amazing. We got a bit lost trying to find it (it's up a side street, but has ample parking) but once we found it, the service, the atmosphere and the food were all exceptional. We sat in their beautiful little courtyard...as it was dry. I honestly can't praise the food enough and Nick who looked after us was also great. If you like small plate style eating, then this one should be on your list.

Extra treat to lunch here after long 3rd lockdown. We sat out in the pretty south facing courtyard on a sunny afternoon with wisteria in flower and as a canopy a low hanging weeping birch. Small plates options together with focaccia and chips. Our favourites were the scallops then the scorched sprouting broccoli and sriracha mayo side. Bill for 2 added up to what to us is a special treat and it really was. Helped by a friendly and skilled young waiter.

"I raved about this place in my last review but since then it appears to have changed. Firstly, I cant remember the chairs being so uncomfortable that they had 'scatter ' cushions for you to use if you needed to. Having had back surgery, they made it even worse for me, so did without them in the most uncomfortable chair ever. Now, to the main part of the review. The lovely cakes that I had raved about had disappeared to be replaced by a sorry looking load of bog standard cake. The poor girl who served us was nervous as it was her first day, we ordered pecan pie which came with cream, we asked if its pouring or thick, she had to ask, it was pouring so we asked if we could have ice cream instead, she had to ask. Anyway, we finally ordered our cake and coffee. When she brought the coffee, she spilled half of mine in the saucer and then asked if I wanted a different saucer....duh! she took the offending saucer and the spoon brought a saucer back, no extra serviette to wipe the bottom of the cup and NO SPOON! We were then served the cake and ice cream, which to be fair, was nice, until, halfway through I saw a hair on my friends plate, (she was not wearing her glasses). We knew instantly that it was not either of ours, I have shoulder length hair and her hair was in a bun! We called the poor young lady over and pointed it out, she asked if my friend wanted to change it...duh! Of course she did, she brought another and thankfully my friend shared it with me! The coffee was (flat white) was nice but after that catalogue of events I wont be going back. They do offer a range of snacks/lunches and people did seem to be enjoying them."
