"We have had a number of meals here so at the end of a day visiting we elected to have a meal at the Grouse. On entering 4.45 it was crowded with mainly drinkers. We were offered a table in the dark room it has light bulbs giving off a dim orange glow on our past visits we have avoided this room glad to say when viewing the menu we were able to use the light on our phone......... Ordered whitebait for starter with two steaks well done for main course. After a while a young lady came to our table with two steak dinners ! on enquiring as to the whitebait starter She returned to the kitchen to check. Seems my order never made it to the kitchen i ordered at the bar We started to eat when i got to the steak it was rare..... We finished the meal left, seems our request for well done steaks never made it to the kitchen ether........"

This place in a stunning location. I asked for the special catch of the day and chips. It was perfect, not the regular fish and chips. This was in July 2015.

The food was amazing what a lovely place and setting but the wait of around 40mins from starters to main course was very disappointing especially after a 4 hour walk to get there But good enough to return Voir le carte

We had booked a table for my friends 50th birthday . We all had a delicious meal . The staff were so friendly and accommodating. We will be back in the summer to enjoy another meal and to appreciate the impressive views from the pub's outdoor seating area

This is a lovely village pub with a very friendly atmosphere. We enjoyed it so much that we went two evenings running. The food is excellent well above the usual pub offerings. Most importantly for me as a coeliac, there is a gluten free menu. The chefs clearly understand allergens and I had two truly delicious meals. Well done! Voir le carte

What a find. We stayed at the Carrog Station campsite and just two miles walk away we found this lovely local pub. The locals and staff were warm and welcoming, my husband found his favourite pint, Founders bringing back memories of early family life. Unfortunately we didn’t stay to eat though everyone told us the food was excellent and it sure looked good. We will return as soon as we can. Thank you so much The Grouse for a fabulous evening.

The Grouse Inn Carrog is locally a hidden treasure, we came here today for Sunday dinner and as usual the experience was fantastic, I had the roast Lamb accompanied with fresh vegetables, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and the tastiest gravy you could dream of. I rarely write a review but this place is outstanding and the staff are very attentive and will go out of their way to make your experience the best possible. It’s a 100% from me, try it you will not be disappointed.

"Went for afternoon tea with my wife, using an 'experience ' voucher from a well known site, costing £35.99 absolute disaster! The description said 'sit down in the sophisticated dining room and tuck into a section of finger sandwiches, tantalising cakes, pastries, macarons and scones with clotted cream and jam. You won 't want this afternoon to end! ' Trust me, we could not get out of their quick enough and go and find somewhere to get something to eat. The sophisticated dining room was a large, cold room with only a couple of other diners, sticky wooden tables, with no table cloths, just a flimsy paper napkin and a knife and fork. We ordered a coffee and a tea, which came in the smallest teapot, I have ever seen. Later in the meal, when we asked for another drink, we were told that was extra and were charged another £5.70. The food was nothing like as described or pictured on the website. A sad looking selection of sandwiches four quarters each of thin sliced bread one containing a very small piece of processed ham, a second mashed up egg, third was some sort of fish, not sure if it was salmon or tuna; and finally some sort of green leaf with something wet on top it looked like the sandwich had been made days earlier and then sat upon! No pastries or macarons but the two scones with clotted cream and two little pots of jam were OK, however the remaining small cakes were dreadful, none of them were fresh there were two eclairs that were inedible, either the cream or chocolate was off and they were very dry; two little red velvet cakes, which again were dry and horrible; and finally two small pieces of carrot cake that were the least objectionable but again very dry. When we told the waitress the eclairs, she said she would tell the chef but no offer of an alternative. True, it was an unforgettable experience, but not in the way we had expected! We have had afternoon teas in top hotels, pubs, cafes and well known garden centres and nothing came close to being as bad as this meal. Needless to say we will never return and would strongly advise caution if anyone is thinking of going here."
