"I've known this pub/restaurant for your years, and the downfall of this establishment is nothing to do with COVID, its the management!! During and since COVID there's been a strong emphasis on booking, so I telephoned beforehand just to make sure for a midweek lunch... Yes highly recommend to book they said! Me thinking it was going to be busy. Turned up at the door and as intructed waitied to be seated. Hung around for about minutes, no one around, no one at the bar, no waitress on the floor, no manager, no customers to be precise! Finally a young girl appeared from the kitchen and sat us down. Food and drinks arrived OK and fairly quickly, but then other customers tuned up, hung around to be seated and again no staff to be seen. As we were seated by the door, we spoke and suggested to these customers to move on down the raad to the Bold Forester where the service and attention is much better. We must have turned away about people during the course of our lunch and the staff hadn't even noticed and had no idea! There was only the chef, one waiter and a manager on shift, and we were the only customers, so where and what the hell these staff were doing, God only knows? In its heyday, this place hinged upon its managers who'd pack this pub with walkers, cyclists and those wanting a lunch. This place is owned by Forest Inns and my message to the MD, Gary Baldwin, is buck up! and let the Lydhurst Park Hotel be a memorial and reminder, of what happens when you let complaincy take over and let things slip."

Set in the idyllic New Forest. Very quiet but it was mid-week and Mum had the chicken burger and you would need to be really hungry to finish it Well recommended.

We visited for a Christmas Eve family lunch and it was lovely. Staff were very friendly, accommodating and managed well considering there was of us! We pre ordered food the week before and it all come out correct and was delicious.

We booked a table for but when we got there they told us that the kitchen was closing at We felt rushed and we had the last bits of the roast, which was not worth the money. Such a shame, as a local...it’s good to find places that you want to go to again and again but we will not return.

We had a family Gathering at the Drift Inn on Dec Tweny two of us, aged between moths and The staff at the Drift inn looked after us so well, nothing was too much trouble. They were patient and courteous at all...times. The food was very good and served very quickly and efficiently. I cant praise them enough, considering how busy they are at this time of the year they gave us so much attention and care. Thanks to you all

We stayed at the Beaulieu Inn this weekend and had such a great stay. We was going to find somewhere in the New Forest to eat out but ended up eating in this pub located on site. So pleased we did, the food was stunning...and the service was really good. Very attentive and friendly staff. Its not often me and my partner come away and both agree on the experience. Shes a fussy eater and im a stickler for good service. We both came away agreeing for the first time!! Will be back again soon.

We came for Sunday lunch after a walk nearby and we couldn't have had a better time. Staff were friendly and welcoming to us and especially our dog. The roast was superb with huge selection of beautifully cooked veg (always my favourite part of the...roast). I genuinely can't remember the last time I had such a lovely roast. We complimented the staff who told us that they had recently appointed a new chef after having some poor reviews. So please give the Drift Inn another try you won't be disappointed. Finally a big shout out to Finn who served us great personality and customer service hope they realise what an asset you are to the pub!

Good honest pub food (the menu is relatively restricted, which is no bad thing in my view), The Drift's location is excellent being right in the very heart of the Forest, although it doesn't look anything too special from the outside (ditto The Beaulieu hotel,...of which it is part). The one surprise for me was that according to the online booking system there was no table availability until on Sunday as the pub was extremely empty at out arrival time. Maybe it had been busy durig the period, or perhaps there had been cancellations because of the current Omicron worries? We all had variations on the Sunday Roast, about which no complaints. Service (both speed and accuracy of understanding on...

We visited on Sunday for a roast and overall, we had a lovely time but there was a few things I feel I need to express. The team were very friendly and pleasant but they seemed to lack communication with each other. We were asked...how our meal was by separate staff, asked for more drinks by separate staff (whilst the first one was getting our drinks) and asked about dessert by another A little communication could have gone a long way! The staff also did not have their hair tied up… working in hospitality myself, long hair down whilst serving food is a big no, for many reasons! The waitresses had lovely hair but please have your tied up when serving food! Finding hairs on plates can really j...

"My Wife and I don't travel so well these days but decided to go a little further afield from our usual Highcliffe and Christchurch haunts we live in Mudeford. We went twice in point of fact. The first visit was the 21st June when My wife and I had a quiet Birthday celebration lunch prior to the Family celebration later in the day. It was excellent. We only had the Mains and despite it being busy and not having booked we were served promptly and cheerfully with a round of drinks. My Wife had Chicken Pie and I had Liver and Bacon. Both were excellent and my Wifes vegetables were freshly done. I don't have vegetables. We liked it so much we went back three days later to celebrate our youngest Daughters birthday and again had lunch before the Family celebration later in the day. The meal was as fabulous as three days prior. My Wife had a Chicken Roast, our Daughter had Beef Roast and I had an amazingly well filled Steak and Merlot Pie of the Week. As before the vegetables were freshly done. Unusually for us we also had puddings (Lemon Meringue, Bailey's Cheescake and Apple Tart with Custard. All were excellent. All washed down with Tea and a Latte the former being served in nicely twee Teapots. Total cost £80 for the three of us on the second visit. Worth every penny. All in all First Class and couldn't fault it. Disabled parking nicely located in the front with ample parking for those more mobile at the side and back. Just a note for History buffs. The main building was built in 1853 by John Harrison(? a Carpenter thus the name Carpenters Arms."
